Back when I started riding, a 750 was considered a big, powerful and fast bike and it was to be treated with respect, especially in the wet. These days a 750 is a mid sized bike which I have noticed many people call small, light and flickable and almost a learner bike. How times have changed. I still think a 750 would have all the power most people could ever need or use, and they have become so user friendly that you hardly even notice how fast they are, or am I wrong?. Thanks for the review, some interesting observations.

I know you don't like doing bike reviews, but I think this was one of the best you have done. Loved the detail about the storage under the seats and the bike widths. That stuff is always good to know when choosing a bike

My neighbour (65 years old) has just test driven one and immediately put down a deposit. I'll look forward to trying it myself. Great reviews.

I cross shopped this and the CB650R. I ended up going for the CB650R just because I think it has more passion in it's design and it was a bit cheaper too in NZ too ($14, 995 incl ORC vs $16, 000+ORC both NZD). I know it's an older platform but it just looks so good, has that sweet inline 4 and just feels like the engineers put more love/passion into the design whereas the CB750 just feels like it was strictly built to a budget. I hope I don't grow to regret my decision but I've done 1, 900km on my CB650R so far and I have loved every km of it so far. In just over an hour, when I finish work, I will go for a ride out to Makarora at the Northern end of Lake Wanaka in New Zealand. 5pm can't come soon enough!

Have to say I’m really liking the extra details included on this real world review. The extra tweaks and queries have elevated everything upwards. Really enjoy them.

Nice review Andy. The plastic tweezers in the tool kit is for removing fuses.Very difficult to do without them!

Your insights are right on. I ride in the wet a lot here on the west coast of Canada, and I use Rain-X on my mirrors - it does a great job of getting most of the water to just slide off, and improve rear vision on wet days. Just a quick swipe before you ride, and it works quite well.

I for one am glad you don't go on press launches as your reviews are always honest and have details that a press launch can't match, unless the next big press launch is in based at the Great Missenden train station car park.

I do like the fact that you comment on things such as headlights, and it's good that bike manufacturers a equipping bikes these days with way better lights thn those of my yoof!

Good review. I saw one for the first time today in my local Honda dealership as I brought my CB500F in for a service. Don't know was I that impressed by the looks, to be honest, and, like you, I think I might go for the CB650R if I were to change up.

Another excellent video Andy. You really do set the gold standard when it comes to impartial, in depth motorcycle reviews. Keep up the great work!

Hi flyer, I bought the the original hornet in 1999 for £4500, and in 2002 I’d agreed to trade it in for a new Honda blackbird, the dealer offered me £3500 which I agreed, I phoned him a week later and said I couldn’t sell the hornet ( he said you can’t want more money for it !! ) I said no I just can’t sell it, the blackbird was awesome too, I just sold the hornet last year, as a friend really wanted it, the new hornet is different, as it wouldn’t be cost effective to put a 4 cylinder in, and at 7k ish it’s a bargain, 🏍🏍👍👍

Just got my Hornet and all Andy says it is. One criticism if the bike is weather and road protection. I don't mean for the rider but the bike!
The front mudguard is a joke, it throws dirt and water all up the front, to the extent the bottom triple clamp get dirty. The rear is even worse. No protection at if you take passenger in the rain or even slightly wet roads, the back of them will be wet and dirty.
So fender extender and hugger are needed (got mine on order now)
Great review and totally agree with it all

I was once told my first BMW was so ugly no one would steal it. After marketing can fix many problems that low pricing has produced. Seems like whatever the video that Andy posts, I always seem to enjoy them. Personality is what does it for me. Never found a bike that I couldn't enjoy riding. Not willing to give up.!! 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋‍♂️

Excellent review, Andy. I have the Transalp (same mechanicals) on order, so was pleased to hear the fuelling is not really an issue👍

I bought a 2024 Transalp with the same engine and it fuels perfectly. It’s also very fast. It has center stand mounts too. The ‘clippy’ thing is a fuse remover.

very good to see your watchers are asking the right questions ;;; any bike can be smooth at 55 mph, and doing 200 mph is mostly irrelevant, ,,, so the jerky in town stuff IS what affects most riders, the more power - the more tense the motor can be, thats why cruisers have an easier time around town than even a lightweight tuned bike, , so its good that this bike has a fair bit of power, but with the 'modes ' it can suit the conditions, it is a good job that you take the time to show bikers what the bike is like in real conditions ;;;
