I will never forget how me and my buddied tried to tame a 2 star wolf, we dig a hole and left him there for the night with his food, next morning we had "tamed" stone golem in that pit

Chicken are also "escapeartists", i have observed them gathering in corners and jump up on top of eachother, and the top one can then escape

Wolves- the "lead them onto a bridge over a pit then trash the bridge" trick does indeed work, and is a good use for empty silver pits. But digging a rectangular pit with a cubbyhole made of wood along the center of one side of the pit that forces a wolf to walk along the edge of the pit to get to you, at which point you can kick, parry or (my personal choice) fungo them into the pit with a circle-swing by your trusty atgeir. The placing of the cubbyhole ensures that the knockback of the wolf cannot miss the pit. Of especial importance in the mountains is that drakes and golems will kill your tame wolves, I recommend roofing your taming pit once you have wolves taming it, and spend some effort ensuring your route off the mountain is clear of them if you want to take any home with you. I strongly recommend breeding your wolves up to at least 4 2-star wolves before attempting to move 2 off the mountain so you have spares to recover from if things go wrong. (I usually do 2 covered pits with 4 wolves each before I attempt to get 2 wolves home, but you can do it with 1 pit if you prefer. (When the first pit reaches 2 wolves and 2 puppies I lead the 2 adults to the second pit to start breeding there once the route is clear, which should only be 12-15m away.)

Two-star wolves do indeed only tame during the night, and you should do your best to ensure that they eat at least once before dawn on that first day. However, while they will indeed attempt to despawn during the day if they havent started taming yet, attempt is the word. They can be prevented from despawning by hanging around near the taming pit till nightfall. It is also possible to keep even untrapped 2-star wolves from despawning, if you can stay close enough to it so it tries to attack you. If it gets more than 10-15 meters away from you it will escape and despawn, and a fleeing wolf is fast so you have little time to react. And of course if you do react in time you now have a 2-star wolf trying to kill you, and you have to keep this up all day till night falls again without letting it get too far away or dying yourself. But it CAN be done- I've done it myself (once) when I was attacked by one as I was building a 1 stone block high perimeter wall around a friends mountain base. Jumping onto the wall was sufficient to make it try to run because it couldnt get to me, and immediately jumping off the wall was enough to make it turn around and come back after me. A small natural boulder would probably do too, but trickier due to the uneven surface to land on.

Tame wolves no longer howl, but wolf puppies didnt get that memo... :P

Loxes- Loxes tend to be soft-anchored to wherever they spawned. So you can sneak up near them, through packs of 8-10 cloudberries (or other lox food) at them and and assorted places nearby and run away. Once you're far enough the lox will lose aggro and tend to wander back to the general area you found them, and with enough food scattered around they'll find it and start to eat/tame.

Boars - decent in early game, afterwards only good for feeding wolves.
Wolves - if they are not starred, it's not worth the effort.
Lox - too much work
Chickens - Heck, yeah!

I like how you showed 64 meters, one can relate to it more easily than extrapolating corewood horizontal log multiplied.

Plays with friends.
Tames wolf while in copper age.
Brings wolf home.
Wolf gets pancaked by a troll.
Cries.
Tames another wolf.
Bring it home.
Tames another wolf.
Breeds a pack of about 6 wolves.
All die due to poison during a swamp raid.
Cries again.
Stops taming wolves.

Here’s a couple tips: Loxen are weird because they have the same pathfinding model as the troll. So they won’t be able to breed if you build them into an enclosed space that isn’t high enough for a troll, they can’t breed because it’s technically saying they’re model is clipped through the roof. Inversely, chickens will struggle to breed in fenced off fields, they are far more efficient when they are inside buildings.

"Is this an out of season april fools joke?"
I had no idea it was that complicated. I tossed a boar a mushroom and I thought I was done

Ngl I hate how tamed animals can deal damage to your structures running into them when alerted to something. I made this really pretty Asksvin area from grausten walls and iron fences and it required maintenance every half an hour. Gave up and dug a hole, lol.

The game needs pet equipment added. A single slot to add armor with pierce resistant so they dont die so easily. Nothing worse than to bring your new tamed Lox for a ride, only for it to almost be OHKO from a Deathsquito...

good video learned a lot. Can you make a video cowering all of the arrows in the game?

I feel like you should be able to tame more animals. Necks are adorable, I'd love those.

I tamed a 2 stars wolf, he got recked by a basic drake shooting his goon ... one hit mid life and then he died from a weird mechanic I wasnt aware of: if your ship hit smthg like a rock and take dmg, the wolf too...
My 2 stars wolf died to a rock in the shore of the meadows...

I didn’t know wolves ate sausages. I had a two star wolf and had to wait for someone to bring me food and if I had known about the sausages I could have started taming immediately
