Hello Buddies,
If you've gotten to the point when your #budgie almost feels like it's untamable, and you're just about to give up, you should know that you're probably doing some taming mistakes that are actually quite easy to overcome.

This was what I needed! It's been a month since I've been trying to tame Coco, and my goal was to tame him outside the cage to rely on me more. When I finally got him out when he perched on my hand willingly for the first time, he frantically flew away from me and yes, I had to chase him. 1 step forward, 3 steps back. I will have to be more patient. Thank you!

Ok this was right on time I could totally relate when he said "your bird almost feel like it's untameble at this point"
I thought the problem was in my budgie but clearly I was doing some of the mistakes mentioned in the video 😐
Hope it's reversible though

Our girl is getting better. Still won’t get on our fingers but she had a fly outside of her cage for the first time today. Didn’t chase her, she kept coming back to the top of her cage. I used and old perch and she hopped on to get put back in her cage! Celebrate the small stuff!

I used your trick of saying ‘step up’ and I also led my budgie Earl to his favourite place! The seed box

My bird isn't tamed to go on my finger yet, but I have a stick that she's used to perching on. I let her out everyday so she can just fly around my room a bit, then she climbs in her cage herself or I put the stick just above her feet and she perches onto it. She also eats out of My hands now. I put cucumber in my hands and I handfeed her to get her used to my hand but sometimes she bites my finger if I get too close. it's normal tho and I'm so proud of her

Thanks!
I have a kinda tamed budgie - he sits on my finger, willing to communicate with people, eats from my hand, but he never allows to touch him except his beak.
Is it a character of a bird? He is 3 years old at the moment

Your videos were a big part of my research before getting my budgies, thanks :)
I got two at the same time, because I could tell they were friends who should be kept together (preening each other, etc.). It's very interesting: The bolder one ("Baby") is progressing quickly, and the timid one ("Juju") sees Baby getting millet treats, and imitates him/her to get treats as well. It has been only two weeks since I got them, and Baby stepped up today without seeing millet first (although there was a millet reward immediately after!). Juju will learn this soon too. Both of them have hopped to my hand to get millet, and I'm currently trying to encourage them to fly to my hand (they thankfully did not have their wings clipped, and are getting lots of practice flying inside their giant cage). Once they trust me a bit more, and know how to step up, I will train them to explore outside of their cage as well. It's insane how much fun the process is - they are very smart.
