How did I bond with my hamster so quickly?
How to tame a hamster without getting bitten?
I have shared some personal tips in this video.

Before any taming process, please learn how to avoid biting when handling a hamster. You can use the back of your hand to approach the new hamsters once they start to eat treats from your hand. Practice makes perfect and your patience will pay off eventually.

I hope you have a relaxing and joyful time here watching cute and funny moments of my little buddies (featuring Miss Miso, Mr Pineapple, Miss Paprika - Syrian Hamster, Miss Taro - Winter White Hamster).

1. Wait until they eat treats from you
2. Use the back of your hand
3. Bite dodging practice
4. Profit

Good luck 🐹

Hamsters are such rewarding pets, nothing feels better than having a hamster trust you

Totally agree that sometimes the ones from pet shops are difficult to tame because they might have been handled roughly in the shop. I had one that used to roar at me with jazz hands on hind legs. I called him "Hamzilla" :)

This is one of the best taming guides I’ve seen! From my experience I know that you’re right: they are all different so you need to be prepared for anything. With Ringo I found practicing holding her in the bathtub (no water in it) with a blanket to cushion jumps was helpful. Others ranged from being immediately tame to taking most of their life to get used to me, depending on the species. My Robo named Bon Jovi took the longest.

I've got a pet from pets at home, and indeed they are not very tame and even now when my hamster is about a year old, she is a very cautious and nervously hamster, and we've just started to get her out of the cage (without a ball) and I hole this video helps us to bond more! Thank you for all your wonderful advise!

Each hamster has it's own personality. My hamster now Mr Crunchy from day 1, he would come to me and play. He never bit me and till now comes around to play. But before I got him, I got a hamster and tried my best to tame it but it never liked anyone coming near it or touching it. It always seemed stressed out although I tried my best to make it feel comfortable. At the end, I felt bad and gave it to someone that takes care of hamsters. I felt that if I was going to leave it with me, it'll end up more stressed.

When I had my first hamster it took 1 week for him to get familiar with the place, but he was still afraid of me and my mother.
Once we got a "wife" for him, the next day he was completely affectionate to both of us and gladly accepted to be picked up, eat from our hands and play! He was completely different from how he behaved only the day before! Maybe the other one told him something😂

I've had 5 hamsters:
1: zinky. syrian. never bit, slow walker but always on the move. not super interactive.
2: George. syrian. never bit, always on the move but very interactive & sometimes enjoyed a cuddle. he had absence seizures where he would freeze & be confused for hours.
3. lexy. dwarf hamster adopted at 5 months. really shy at first but became my friend, she used me as climbing apparatus. she licked and nibbled my hand a lot for some reason.
4. cinnamon. dwarf hamster. very hit and miss. unpredictable & would often attack me even after 5 months of taming, so I decided not to put my scary hands near her.
5. ginger. dwarf hamster. very sweet and responds to my voice & his name. is cool with handling, likes sleeping in shoes, & won't bite me unless he thinks my hands smell tasty. has lymphatic cancer :'(
every now and again he gets freaked out by something (he's SO sensitive to change) and then he becomes war hammy, attack and don't let go of finger hammy

I adopted my hamster who was left behind by its owner. After months of hand feeding snacks, my hamster will gladly hop onto my hand and arm. But, he now likes to nibble my fingers.

Some hamsters may take longer and lot of patience. I rescued an aggressive chinese black one 6 months ago. He still bites sometimes, but after 6 months he finally eats from my hand and let me handle him. Longest and definitely most satisfying taming process so far :)
