This very practice is happening in the UK. Today there was a report of a fight involving 20 young men, with "mass stabbings". Nowhere in the report was there a description of the men. There were photo's of the police and ambulances, but the faces of the people arrested were blurred out. Their hands were not, though. And its clear that these people were not indigenous to the area.

The police in Germany also have to be very careful how they record offences committed by people with a migration background. Because of discrimination, that's crazy. In Berlin, there were serious riots on New Year's Eve 2022/2023, mainly by people of Arab descent. That was terrible, ambulances and fire engines were attacked, yet it was difficult to discuss these crimes in terms of people with a migration background...you quickly become Islamophobic.

The official police report in Germany describes the appearance of a criminal by their clothes (not ethnicity, skin color, etc).

This also occurs in the UK as well; media reports story about an aspiring newly arrived medical student doing open air surgery with a zombie knife and they deliberately keep it as vague as possible but the people will simply read between the lines.
