On my first play through of Skyrim I didn’t want to start a second play through until I got all the achievements. After I killed a legendary dragon and got the final achievement I traveled to the Throat of the World and stood on the highest point before save my game for the last time. It was night time in the game and I used clear skies to see the aurora. Then this song started and Paarthurnax and Odahviing flew in circles around the summit. I let the song play all the way through, saved my game, and quit that character for the last time.

They say pictures can paint a thousand words, well I say sounds can create a million pictures.

This is the last track made for the game... Fitting.

This was the last song Soule worked on in the Skyrim soundtrack. He took inspiration from Minstrel's Lament (Oblivion) because he considered his "role to be somewhat akin to a minstrel." It was his way of saying goodbye. You can hear his passion for his music in this song so clearly... What a masterpiece!

This piece captures the essence of Skyrim. Immersing yourself to the point of feeling like you're actually there. Skyrim is beautiful.

5:02 is easily one of the most grandiose and impressive highlights of the entire soundtrack, an absolute sonic cathedral, mighty in its splendor.

Too bad it often plays when you're doing menial shit like getting groceries from the market to make horker soup or trying to unglitch your follower from a stuck door.

Skyrim is a landmark game. All the criticisms of it are 100% on point (ex: seemingly every possible quest becomes a draugr dungeon crawl for some reason), and you can certainly trace a path of simplification and dumbing-down from game to game before it, but goddamn is this game an accomplishment. Incredible music, incredible world, incredible art & design, great lore, so immersive, so full of special self-made moments. I love this track; I love it when it plays while you are traversing the tundra around Whiterun or the heath fields around Markarth; I love it when it plays high up on a mountain while the graybeards share their religious wisdom. What a beautiful game. I think I'll have to play it again soon.

5:40 - 7:36 this is probably the best part of any game soundtrack ever made. The violin solo in combination with the piano parts in the background is one of a kind!!

Wind guide you. The wind guides me to my adventures. To ancient Nordic ruins, to entire cities built completely underground, to icy and interminable tundras, to the grandiose and ornate walls of the mighty dragons and even to the Monahven, The Throat of the World.

But mainly to taverns. Because it's cold as fuck in Skyrim.

If this doesn't give you goosebumps, you're not human.

It's crazy how a song can be so powerful over your feelings. I feel nostalgic for Skyrim, even though I still play it to this day.

7:53 I really like that ending, it's like when you are 100 years old, feel your heartbeat slows and life fading away

Whenever I hear this, I picture craggy fjords, dark evergreen forests, snow-kissed hills, vast green meadows, the sky ablaze with lights... makes me want to move to Norway.
