The Daily Wail news article does not make sense. If we hire a car we have to pay for it before they will give us the keys so they already have our card details. Ditto if we are staying at a hotel you have to pay before you arrive. Both the car hire companies and hotels can take deductions from your card if you are found to have caused damage during your holiday. Not so bothered about the biometrics bit as we have used when visiting both Jordan and Malaysia and it did not add any more time to going through immigration.. You just look at a camera so they can scan your eyes and put your finger in a machine that reads your finger print. Takes seconds.
