AMS continues to expand its work within the medical field, recently producing an infrared staking machine for a medical supplier in the Cincinnati area.

This machine utilized the benefits of a low impact solution, via infrared staking, for applying two thin opposing adhesive tabs to the body of a plastic medical device simultaneously. Infrared staking also has the added benefit of an aesthetic finish for parts while remaining durable, repeatable, and maintaining a short cycle time.

The machine detects the presence of two different size medical parts (or lack thereof) and displays to the operator what is currently in the nest via the HMI.

The nests for parts can be easily swapped out, while the operation for both parts remains the same.

This machine features:

- IR staking system
- Touch-less cycle operation, and a
- Light curtain for operator safety, as well as three-sided guarding.

With spot and ultrasonic welding already within the core competencies at AMS, this machine was a great addition to our resume as we continue to work with medical suppliers in the future!
