Great video Chris 👍. We are moving out in 2 years in August and will definitely be in touch. When do I need to start organising things about 6 month before?

I love the point about the support network. Though over time we find people with whom we can connect locally, it's helpful to start somewhere where you'll have a sense of home.

I came to Spain about thirty years ago for holiday breaks, we (my wife and I) enjoyed it so much we started to look seriously at the prospect of living here. With that in mind we made a list of pros 'n' cons then compered our lists.... We started by buying a holiday property that we used for about four years. What we thought was an appropriate juncture we made the move to live permanently in Spain.... This was over twenty years ago, pre Brexit so devoid of many of the problems now facing would-be immigrants. The rate of exchange was far better. To live here was a lot cheaper, and once the ''brits on holiday'' mode subsided we slipped slowly into ''Living in Spain'' our adopted country. Brexit has caused huge problems to do what we did. Being part of the EU did make things a lot easier, albeit with the usual red tape. Many Brits lived ''under the radar' so's to speak 'and voted Brexit'..(turkeys voting for Christmas)..believing nothing would change for them...that turned out to be a bad call....in fact they screwed it up for everyone wishing to live in España....

Excellent video. Thank you. We are 66YO retired educators visiting Poland and Estonia after helping a new school open in Lviv. We are seriously thinking of selling our Portland condo and moving to Europe. Is renting a better option than owning a home for expats in Spain? We always wanted to own, but now it seems that putting the cash in CDs is wiser than purchasing a home. Plus the healthcare is better in Spain than in the US. Your thoughts? Dean & Cindy

Many thanks Chris. Another great video. Been watching your stuff (including on YouToo Spain and others) and it’s been a great help. We’re now in to our last year before we make the jump. Will no doubt be in touch soon 👍

Hi, quite interesting. Is this really for people who are retiring to Spain, or just generally people who are wanting to move there but are nowhere near retirement age? These are 2 completely different groups in my opinion.

In 10 years time I will be probably dead since I'm 70 and diabetic, but my wife, a Colombian US citizen, and I, a Cuban US Citizen, have been thinking about retiring to Spain with only our social security checks (near $2700 USD a month for both), and some savings, about $50000 USD). Is it a good idea to retire to Spain? I'd appreciate your comments, and by the way, we both are Spanish native speakers from our countries of origin. Thanks. 😀

Thank you for all the information that you are shearing. Greatly appreciated. I would like to ask a question. I am a EU resident (Poland) leaving in US ( also US resident.) Mu husband is only an US resident, we are planning to move to Spain in the near future. Can you please share what residency would he need to leave in Spain? THANK YOU!

Great Video ... Question . when I retire AUG 27. I have a property, I am an EU citizen, my wife is not. I will become a resident . I understand the health care issues, but do we have to continue paying private healthcare or is there another option ? thanks

Hi Chris, do you think Spain have any intention of granting Brits up to 180 days in one go? Been speaking to people who say they don’t want to move permanently to Spain but would love to go for up to 6mths in the Winter. It’s all becoming very very complicated especially with the Consulates striking. Regards. Jo

Are the many criticisms of residency in Spain valid, not to mention the language obstacles? Compared to Latin America and Portugal? Plus, what about the current political and economic situation in EU with NATO because of Russia and Ukraine?

Hopefully we are planning to rent in Spain for 12 months once we get our NLV, then buy in Spain, if we sell our home in the UK will we have to pay tax on this in Spain?

Really enjoying the content of your videos. After taking early retirement 18 months ago, and with the “dust settling” post Brexit, we are considering a move abroad and Spain is our first consideration due to climate and ease of travel from the UK. Given the unpredictable outcome / impacts from the war in Ukraine, we don’t feel the time is right (at present) to “sell up” and buy a property in Spain however, we believe purchasing a relativity low cost apartment near the coast may be a good interim step and visit for the 2 x 90 periods. Have you any thoughts / advice on such a consideration?

Hi Chris, Thanks great Information on the video. We ( My wife and I) are thinking of moving to Spain from Ireland . Renting our house and living on the proceeds . Possibly buying a home close to amenities ( doing all the right things). However my head spins around when it comes to all the Laws and rules, taxes from Ireland etc . I've studied them, but i know, I'll always mess up somewhere. Is this a service you provide ? Also I you come in on a non lucrative visa can you change it if you found Employment ? Thanks again.
