Course recommendations (Coursera):

Hey data nerds 👋, you might have been finding yourself procrastinating, getting distracted from learning data science and not wanting to put in the time to learn difficult things. In this video I'm sharing some tips for self-learning data science that I have used in the past few years, transitioning from Economics to Data Science. I realized everything started with the right mindset for learning. Additionally, in this video I also talk about the 5-step learning framework that I use for learning almost anything, and also some bonus tips to help you learn more effectively. I wish you a lot of success with learning! Thank you for watching and have a great day! 🤗

I'm 46 and I'm now doing web development...totally out of my comfort/interest zone... in a class with a bunch of teenagers...but I wanted something new something challenging. Been experiencing imposter syndrome since lately so just imagine how much this vid is helping me now. Thank you

Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn” (Benjamin Franklin). Best way to learn anything for me is being involved in project, deliberate about subject, and asking questions.

"Important skill is not time management anymore, it's energy management" Well said, thank you for inspiring people about such a challenging field in a way that seems learnable!

Nice video, I am 65 and still learning new technology and math because I have the time to pursue these topics. I taught myself Python programming language but already had learned C, and Java on my own long ago. The resources available are huge, you just have to find them by looking.

I switched to IT almost 10 years ago. I'm a self taught at everything and currently I'm working as a senior DevOps engineer. So I guess I can learn on my own and I am perfectly capable of achieving my goals... But I still have these doubts in myself, I'm still fighting imposter syndrome almost everyday. So videos like this one are quite helpful. Not that I heard something new here, but its a great reminder that there are more people like me. Also seeing others reaching for their goals is a great motivation.

You have such an original approach to data science topics! I've rewatched many of your videos because they provide great value and fresh perspective. We tend to forget some of the things mentioned here, so it's good to have this resource and remind yourself from time to time about what is really impacting your studying and how you can control it. I'll be coming back to this video.

I love hearing others talk about their struggles and how they overcome obstacles. Before I got into coding I was so unorganized n rarely ever planned anything. Videos like these help me keep going through all the doubt that comes with learning to code. Thank you for the video and best of luck in your endeavors Thu.

My personal experience got me from civil engenieering to informatics engenieering. When I got in the field my deepest thoughts were some like: "jeez I bet I am the most useless person here"; "this task takes me 7 days to do, while these 23 year old kids perform this in 2 hours"; "I am getting way with this simply because no one is asking me a very profound, structured explanation of what I am doing"; "I bet I am the worst PhD student of my supervisors". Two years later I am teaching DS projects at a Master's Informatic Engenieering course :) It is not that I have learnt everything there is to learn in two years, it is just that "imposter syndrom" I deeply still suffer today: not anyone knows anything very deeply just because they use buzzwords for topics and all of them had their learning curve :) no one comes out of the womb with knowledge :)

Clearing your self doubts does wonders, many people hold themselves back just because of it. Great tips again, Thu Mam!

I've been trying to "break my way into tech" and have thought about the process of being an engineer the wrong way. Which is why I believe it's taken me so long to learn the skills and put myself out there especially with having that feeling of imposter syndrome and a lot of the mindsets you've mentioned in your video, having those mindsets have set me back for years. This video has motivated me to have a different perspective on things because I know this is for me I've just been struggling on how to get there. Truly inspiring, I really appreciate this!
