*Bandai has patched the Nepheli Loux questline that was previously unfinished before patch v1.03 and Gatekeeper Gostoc is part of this questline. It is not needed for platinum however it's advised you don't kill this NPC if you want to complete the questline.*

This episode we take on our first Legacy dungeon with Stormveil Castle, giving us an experience more representative of previous souls games. There aren't any trophy related things to worry about this episode, but plenty of hidden loots to find.

If you’re having trouble with the Crucible Knight, fight him inside the elevator room. I was losing the fight badly, so I jumped on the elevator platform and hit the floor button to escape. I apparently killed him as he tried to chase after me and fell down the elevator shaft instead 😄

Apparently *Gatekeeper Gostoc* Will steal a certain percentage of your *Runes* when you die inside the castle. You will only be able to collect 70% of what you had when you died.
When you get locked into the room with the Knight that drops the *Rusty Key*, it is not the knight that chuckles, it's *Gatekeeper Gostoc* that closes the door behind you and is looking forward to those juicy *Runes* you've collected. Hope this helps.

Also that laugh when you encounter that Knight in the dark room is Gostoc’s laugh. You get less runes in return if you die in the castle. There’s a few spots he can be seen during my wandering.

23:11 Don't kill the Gatekeeper and later he'll sell you an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone which gets your weapon to +25. There are only 13 in the game.

Easy way to kill the knight in the castle, let him follow you to the elevator, hit the button while he's on it, ride up some and roll onto platform. He'll ride up some, jump down after you and fall to his death. Thanks for the walkthroughs man

If you're following this walkthrough as a mage, buy the carrian ash of war and the glintstone ash of war *FOR SURE* . They are both fire. Totally underrated AOW for mages

One thing to note about edgar is that if he for some reason does not spawn at castle morne, you can find him in the revengers shack and he will invade you. (you still get the shabiri grape and his halberd).

Killing Gostoc will not lock you out of Nepheli Loux and Kenneth Haight's quest as it can still be completed without him, but you will miss out on the Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and won't be able to buy it from the Twin Maiden Husks even if you gave them his bell bearing.

You’ve probably found it already but in the demi humans ruins there was a hidden stairs that gives you the shield of the guilty. Really cool small shield with bleed on it.

I was an idiot and didn't spend my runes after beating Margit. Lost a little over 10k to the shadow knight guy in the dark room. I was so frustrated that I quit. Now that my rage has subsided I wanted to go into stormveil a little more prepared. This helped a bunch with that so thank you so much! Liked and subscribed :)

Ole dude wasn't up at the top of castle morne for me like he was for you. Talked to him where Irina was the same, but he wasnt on the bench. THen went to bridge of sacrifice and it just says "she's dead", homie wasnt there.
Edit: You can fight him as an invader and get the same drops at the Revenger's Shack grace in west Liurnia.

Interesting tidbit though if you kill gostoc you won’t get locked in with the knight in the room with the rusty key, he’s the one that locks you in that room with the knight. Something to keep in mind :D

29:50 if you have fire arrows use them to hit the barrels the birds are holding for an instant kill. All 3 of the can be hit before the bird is aggroed
