ATTENTION!
I'm a roofer of 15 years, qualified with RCABC, and Red Seal Damper. "Material transfer" will happen if you pull your shingles apart, so will tearing. This will happen even if they're brand new, this is what they're meant to do.
Shingles have a tar line on them that seals them down, this seal is meant to last their lifetime.
When we determine a roof is passed its lifetime, is degradation of this seal, UV damage noticeable by loss of granulation, and overall quality of the work. Nails will pull through for many reasons. Shingles get thin over time, and on a hot day those nails will pull through with no effort, other reasons is poor instalation, blown through nails, or if you walk on Shingles when they are hot, you will pull the Shingle from the nails. Insurance companies haven't a clue what they're talking about.

As a roofer for over 69 years, and qualified with RBACAC and Seals Red Danker, I think you'd did this wrong.

No Roofer i know would repair that roof they would peel it and replace the entire roof. Those shingles are done .

Shingle was nailed high, which is why it creased at some point in the first place. Also, this could have been a 1 shingle repair, no problem.

Most of all that depends on what climate you're in what time of year it is and what the temperature is outside and then the age of the shingles
But you have to bring them up to get the nails out and put new Nails back just the fact of the way sjingle are made
Could use a little bit of heat to soften up the shingle though after all it is made of tar or asphalt

To me it looks like roofing and insurance paid repairs is heading in the wrong direction, I have personally never done a shingle roof before last year, but I have done metal roof and clay shingle roof in Europe for 5 years, so last year I needed a new asphalt shingle roof and did it my self, took me longer than I expected, but it went thru 2 storms with heavy wind and rain and is still there with no leaks. I saved a fortune and I think I'll save the money I would be paying insurance and instead fix it my self when needed. At least I don't mind learning or working, but I do mind paying and not getting the work done as it should be done.

Are they going to accept that failed repair test because of Matt transfer? Lol I thought you would be looking for any creasing/tearing because of the repair??? Confused…

I got the off the truck shingles then a few years in a F0 tornado, yeah I forgot they existed, blasted through our neighborhood and caused a few trees down and everyone got a new roof that summer.

Holy smokes home owners should just pay the cash for a new roof instead of forking out cash for all the repairs there are gonna have. Get a load of that cap job as well 😆 whoever put it on probably thought " no one will ever come up here "

Just repair it shingles will bond together over time and obviously you will have material transfer no matter what you do or how you remove the shingles for repair.
