Hi Guys, this video is an Animation explaining the working of diesel cycle. The pressure volume diagram of both theoretical and practical concepts are explained. The adiabatic process, constant pressure process ie the isobaric process are also explained.
You can also get an idea of the piston movement inside the cylinder as per the PV diagram.

Our next video is: How to drive an automatic transmission vehicle - don't miss it.

thank you for the good explanation and I have a question about why the combustion can be in constant pressure even in practical state?

I appreciate your effort to make it a video and help know the content ...but could you be more explainatory in why the lines and cycle goes like that rather than ...just explaining book wise ....if you make things understandable to the core in simple ...ways ....

Nice video sir.
I have one question: Why the combustion process is at constant pressure and not at constant volume? and same question for Otto cycle: Why combustion takes place at constant volume and not at constant pressure?

WARMHOLES.If you get practical PV diagrams for some diesels models, youll be aware that heat is added first at constant value which is higher in heat added than isobaric, and second a bit in isobaric, Diesel, as you know Diesel is ignited by high level of compression ratios 16:1, 20:1, if turbocharged increase perhaps a 60% of non turbocharged. Ignition will occur at ignition poin of mixture, usually 15, 1/1 air kg/fuel kg stoichiometric for isoctane, a few degrees before reaching TDC heat added must start, depending on rpm.Regards

Are the exhaust and intake of air happening at the same time in the practical?

Why we understand that the combustion take place at constant pressure or constant volume in diesel or petrol cycle engine

i didn't understand that why volume is increasing during isobaric process? i understood why it has constant pressure, but why increase in volumen since from 2-3 in theoritical cycle, the piston is at TDC?

4 to 1 is not exhaust stroke, its only the exhaust valve opening

Exhaust stroke will be a isobaric process

Reality there are issues with your discussion.

1) In real life the combustion has to involve a pressure increase hence combustion is not isobaric.

2) Adiabatic is not the best terminology to use although it is traditionally called this. Specifically: Your theoretical curves for both compression and expansion more closely follow the isothermal curves for a P-V diagram and perhaps isothermal would be a preferred term over adiabatic. I know that traditionally it called adiabatic but that is wrong

3) Since the temperature increases during compression, then the pressure at the end of the compression cycle should be higher than that shown on the theoretical curve

4) During expansion the engine is doing work thus the temperature must decrease, hence the real curve should always show lower pressure than theoretical

 Otherwise a nice video

You just described the graph using the annotations which we could already read... It would be better to explain the graph, i think thats what the vast majority of people who clicked on the video were looking for.

Dear, adiabatic or isentropic, please specify!
