Hi Guys, this video is an Animation explaining the working of Otto cycle. The pressure volume diagram of both theoretical and practical concepts are explained. The adiabatic process, constant volume process ie the isometric process are also explained.
You can also get an idea of the piston movement inside the cylinder as per the PV diagram.

Our next video to be uploaded is an Animation on How diesel cycle works.

Explanation was good and simple, unlike in my textbook...

good job. And to clarify, intake and exhaust is not represented at all in theoretical diagram. 2-3 is heat addition(not compression, this is combustion) and 4-1 is heat rejection(not exhaust) as the cycle is theoretical. the volume is considered to be closed so no intake or exhaust.

I love this content! I did a 2 month heavy vehicle servicing course and learnt a little theroy. This is much more interesting. Thankyou very much. :D

Better way to study is to learn firstly: Air standard cycles
Secondly: fuel air cycles
Thirdly : actual cycle
For an Otto cycle and diesel cycle

Great video, it would have helped me conceptually to have known when the spark ignited the fuel to understand why the volume of the cylinder increased

How come the exhaust stroke (4-1) is occurring at constant volume, but the piston is moving from BDC to TDC.

Great Explanation !! but I want notes for OTTO CYCLE and DISEL CYCLE..

i have a question please, how the ignition happens at constant volume? isn't the piston compress the air/fuel mixture and decrease its volume? also in diesel engine how the ignition happens at constant pressure while the idea of the piston is to compress the air/ fuel mixture to the self ignition point?

how does the transfer of heat change the curves in the practical concept? higher temperatures = higher pressure so why is there a higher pressure in the expansion stage of the practical concept when heat is lost? thanks
