Wish Toyota USA bring amazing diesel engines from Asia. It would be soo awesome to have 2.8 turbo diesel from Prado on my 4Runner with a 150L tanks.

NA customers are crazy when it comes to diesels. Slowly coming around after the VW diesel disaster. I have the 2018 Chev Equinox 1.6 TDI and it is a great diesel engine. 40MPG on the highway. Lots of torque for climbing steep grades at 240ft/lbs. 134 hp and 6spd auto. Would have been awesome with the 6spd manual offered in the Chev Cruz as it was built on the same platform.

The diesel autos I drove in Europe told me that no turbo is required for crazy high torque and unbelievable mileage even when getting into the throttle and tire chirping on shifts constantly. I thought the fuel gage was broken. Nope! Sips fuel even when zooming. I don’t want or need turbo and especially don’t need hybrid. Both add to initial cost, more things to go wrong (reliability suffers) and additional cost of ownership. Way too many cars that use batteries for the drivetrain inexplicably catch on fire even when parked and in collisions start burning and in both cases no amount of water extinguishes lithium batteries when the burn.
