This training course will provide you with a fundamental understanding of a Two Stroke Diesel engine operation, how the engine works and the operating principles.

This older technology is still in use today, with many Detroit diesels still on the road in commercial transport applications. In this video you will get an understanding of the basic principles and why they were so popular over many decades, their benefits and disadvantages, operating cycles and basic components. Also covered is the gradual phasing out of Two-Stroke diesel technology and the replacement with 4-Stroke common rail engines

2 stroke diesel engines. They have all the advantages of both 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines in 1.

Glad I watched this, this answered my question about how the oil and fuel was mixed. My guess was it was like automatically mixed as it was pumped like a 2 stroke oil injected outboard

Detroit v6 sound is amazing, like a Cummins revving to 4000rpm.

This type of 2 stroke engine was invented by a chap called Webb in the 1890's.

Hence the name "Webb 2 stroke" to separate it from the more conventional Crank Case Induction (CCI) 2 stroke engine.

Hey, could i use some of your 2 stroke footage from 1:18 to 1:38 and animations for a school project/presention in physics? I would of course link and give credits.

You need to show the rings near the bottom of the piston.

Hi, I wonder that which animation program did you use? Glad to hear that if anyone knows it...

Hi everyone, I am looking for a diagram or an explanation of the 2 stroke engine that was used in motor bikes for racing. The engine has 1 or 2 exhaust valves that shut off to hold more in the compression stroke. This is different to the power valve. Thank you

And now you can put 4 intake valves in the cylinder head they all helps to suck air from the intake manifold when they open, helping the blower to do his job.

How does de injection system works? I mean, for sure, nowadays they use an alectronic unit with sensors to know when to do it, but in the past? Does it had a timing belt or equivalent system?

Thanks from Spain

1:30 so : as it doesn't use oil on the piston course, how it keeps lubricate the piston and liner from during its up and down?

Why not to feed the fresh air through the valves and make the exhaust through the kinda "transfer" ports,
Wouldn't be better? Since when you open the valves it helps to force air into the cylinder, and in the other hand the propagation of the combustion inside the cylinder points toward the crankshaft so it partially auto exhaust by the inertia of gasses.

1:42 Foking hell ! how to remove the frame on the right hand of the video advertising another video? HELL!! HELP!

Maybe a dumb question (however)
Could you make the stroke slightly longer and put an exhaust port opposite the intake port but higher on the cylinder wall? As the piston uncovers the exhaust port some exhauste exits before the intake port is uncovered and forces the rest of the exhaust out?
I think I get the concept but it was just a curiosity question.

Thanks

Wonder what a petrol version using desmodronic exhaust valves would sound like?

Which bike companies uses 2-stroke diesel? That looks interesting, do you know if any motor bikes are fit to have EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve on them?

Why not use a crankcase breathing type
