Set aside another £10k towards repair/maintenance cost for these.

This could also very easily be a list of cars to stay away from for less than $40k

The main problem with all cars in this list is the maintenance.

You may pay half the price for it but the maintenance cost same as brand new.

I always said you can get far more for your money buying used than buying new plus you will suffer less depreciation too. However a lot of these cars will cost you an arm and a leg to maintain and repair compared to a Civic or Astra but I would still do it! Couldn’t fathom spending 40k on a boring every day run of the mill car.

Any £30k sports car might seem like a bargain until it’s MOT and servicing time.

And here in Australia the cheapest BMW i8 is 170k.. very sad

I have posted this online before, Auto trader price guide on the website is favouring dealership not customers, For example if you check a lower price car with a reg and normal car sales website, it's actual real prices is still 3 to 5 grand lower. Your price index should reflect the blue book prices not the comparison on dealership prices.

Sounds great, and it is a fun idea etc. But practically... once you've owned one and realise quickly how many thousands it costs to maintain, and how much every little problem costs... yeah it quickly makes you want to sell it. £30k suddenly turns to £50k+ within a year or two

981 cayman S, F type (v6 or v8) & mk3 TT RS should be high on this list. Not ridiculous running costs like a lot of these cars that have been featured

Two weeks ago I picked up a 2017 Mercedes S63 AMG coupe with 31k miles and fully loaded for basically £50k. It's depreciated by more than £80k in just 6 years which is incredible but it's an amazing amount of car for the money and feels special every minute I'm behind the wheel

You should have named the video “How to sell your family fast”. Mans suggested leasing a 2012 Bentley GT, oil change and annual service alone costs like used Honda and once first airmatic balloon goes out, so does the first kid. Maserati should come with a personal priest that blesses the car before every drive, because sometimes even mechanics will say no to it’s repairs. Out of whole list Alpha and somewhat R8 could, slightly, but could make some sense. Rest is a red flag.

I'm not sure if I really would want to own a used, old BMW i8. Sure, it looks amazing, but it's almost impossible to get spare parts as it's so rare, so owning it will be quite expensive, and the performance isn't great for the power. The same also applies to many other cars in the list. Of course, they look like amazing value, but spare parts for a >100k car will always be a lot more expensive than for a Golf for example, same for insurance, taxes and also fuel consumption. There is a difference between being able to buy a car, and being able to afford it. You should always keep in mind the total cost of ownership.

In the US, demand for many of these cars are still artificially inflated (e.g. GTR). Go pound sand, not paying original MSRP for your 80k mile 2009 Nissan 😂

What a great idea for a video especially with the high price of new cars out there. To be honest, the maintenance costs of these out-of-warranty cars scare me a lot but it is nice to know that at least the entry price is attainable. Again, great job!

Also going need another whole 30k plus for maintenance for the year to run them
