Apart from processing power, what is preventing Sony from retrofitting some minor but nice features to the a6300 and a6500 via firmware upgrade? No or very few owners from 6300 or 6500 will buy the 6400. Not upgrading the 63 or 65, just to keep the sales ready for a6700 / a7000 is very poor customer fidelization. The upcoming apscs shall be that good that the target customer can be easily differentiated fron upgraded 63, 65 and current 64.

Great comparison, the only thing, I think that the prices for the a6300 and a6400 are cheaper

I think this may be the way to go for me. I've been using their A-Mount DSLRs for years (I still have a Maxxum 35mm camera and most of the lenses), but it seems like they're being abandoned by Sony in favor of the E-Mount. I was looking at the A6500, but if I can get most of what that camera has for less, then the A6400 will work just fine.
