You Remember The Bad Times More Than You Remember The Good Times

Why does it seem like we remember the bad times more clearly than the good times? Jay Shetty says experts estimate the average person has 60,000 thoughts per day - and 80% of them are negative! Dwelling on bad times makes them more ingrained in our minds and memories, creating more emotive “sticking power”.

Watch the full video to learn how to use Jay Shetty’s “5-4-3-2-1 Method” to hold on to the good times and make good memories come more easily to the surface, replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.

Good times don't make you grow, pain does.
How we choose to proceed with that pain is up to us. Either dwell and suffer or learn and let go.

Meditation allows you to control your thoughts, so you can focus on the thoughts that bring you joy and happiness. This is a step to enlightenment.

I need this advice so much right now.. Lately I have been crying a lot at night remembering those negative moments in my relationship rather than positive moments with him..
Thank you Jay

I lived in the past year and up to now in the memories of 2018 and honestly it made me sick for 2 years. So I guess it's time to change that and be more grateful and present.

This is 100% spot on. I personally am a habitual negative thinker and it has ruined alot in my life. I am trying to overcome it but its so difficult when I've experienced far more pain then good in life😔

What Jay Shetty said in this video is true; it is time we celebrate our achievements or successes more than we sulk over our defeats or failures.

We all dwell on whatever bad happened. We need to be grateful and look on the positive side. We need to change our perspective. Because if we keep on thinking about negative things, then more negativity will come into our life.
Change your thoughts, Change your life!

Revisiting a negative memory and correlating it to a lesson learned or growth in some way helps in releasing some of the emotion attached, that's helped me make sense of a lot of the things that have happened to me!
Spreading lots of love and light to all wonderful people 💛💡🙏😊

I do this when I travel. I take mental images and heighten my senses to try to remember as much as I can see, touch, smell, hear or not hear and the beauty of everything.

wow new and inspiring "Focus on the presence. 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste." I first thought it was the 5 second rule.. : )

It is hard to forget when a person get attacked in fasion.. Somethings can't beforgotten.. and some are impossible to remember ed... My ex passed away about ten months ago now.. I'm starting to forget the sound of his voice.. But I remember more of the good times I had with him than the bad ones..

I see bad moments in the past as good ones in the present because all the painful moments remind me of what mistakes to avoid and at the same time motivate me to improve myself further. In addition the hardship from the past serves as proof that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and went on with life regardless of the rejection and suffering that I had to endure. In fact I see failure as a stepping stone to success. Another thing to learn and broaden my wisdom. We learn from failure more than we learn from success. Failure makes us tougher, more resistant, as well as humble. Success makes us soft, overconfident, and too comfortable. That's why being "too successful" can actually be bad and lead to ultimate failure. We need to restructure our mindset on life and start appreciating the negatives, because without such contrast the positives would not exist.

This is so true. I usually just listen to a good song and dance in my room. Good way to relieve stress and be in the moment

As someone who has a lot of bad memories I can attest to this. I am using these for good and I channeling them into my YouTube channel The 413 Movement. I am hoping to inspire others by sharing my story.
