I love how calm and collective you are in a pvp battle! Me and my shipmate (my 7 year old daughter who is so close to pirate legend too) seem to both go into panick mode at the 1st sign of unfriendly pirates.

I have to correct you Phuzzy. We don't rely on our doublegun skills, we seek out ship battles and train them. We don't board wildly, only when there's a chance and enough pressure.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. But you always learn something new.

Unfortunately, this type of ship combat is not often found in SoT anymore.

Your special balls made the big difference in the end, but still a fair and, above all, non-toxic fight. That's the way I like it.

Greetings from Kong Necro, the owner of the Necromonger ;)

Until next time.

Jackie: "You're going up against 6 guns rocket, it's not gonna be easy."
Rocket: "I like those odds."

In a situation where your foes are superior at hand to hand, but weaker at naval, the best place to have them in battle, is on their own ship.

I noticed that what won you the battle was basically 2 things:
- you changed positions
- you started doing more straightforward team talk with everyone and not just a simple "let's board"

at 5:30 if they both stayed on the ship helped raise sails and continue to shoot cannons they could've had it easily people board to much when it is not necessary they could've put way more pressure and then they both could've got on

Rockets excitement is the other side of the spectrum to your calm and collected side lol. Great balance and battle tips!

Truly inspirational. I'd love to see some Galleon combat. Hard to find pointers for my family crew. They can't fight close combat but they know how to use the cannons, for sure

What *I* would have done here is have Phuzzy attempt a board and get killed, and have Rocket just cling to the very bottom of his ladder. Then, when Phuzzy and Jackie get into cannon range for another barage, Rocket would board while they're distracted by the naval battle.

6:40, do agree the blunder needs some more tuning.

Hi phuzzy, I hope you are doing well ! You are the kind of guy that has nuanced, fair and realistic opinions about the game and also happen to be my favorite SoT content creator here on youtube and also twitch.
I haven't touched the game since a couple weeks after the new season started.
The reason being I don't see a reason to invest into the game anymore, I acquired hundreds of millions of gold and achievements, nothing to spend it on or look forward to aside from it just being sort of a high score counter but that isn't even a problem and I've the reason I've quit is due to a feeling I've had waaay before I even had many cosmetics and achievements.
My crew and I challenge and occupy ourselves by helping new players with toxic or blood thirsty crews, often end up being bad players themselves at both naval and close quarters. We usually play brig or sloop, and rarely galleon as we do not have a 4th player most of the time it is just a random new player we play with and show the ropes.
I'm generally a competitive player and the only time I end up sinking is to the occasional better crews on galleon who excel both at boarding and double gunning, I dislike this as it forces me and my crew to play with 4 to 6 machine guns in order to level the playing field.
Galleon fights are a hassle and un-fun to fight and beat when the crew are double gunning board spammers, and impossible when they know how to naval and maintain the ship.

The new spawn timer change makes it troublesome and a huge time and resource sink to deal with the decently skilled galleons.
My reason hasn't even got anything to do with the bugs or the lack luster micro-mechanics that lead to boring close up pvp and even more boring pve. Not trying to be only negative about the game I fell in love with, I like the macro aspect that they have given ship battles.

I haven't seen Rare do anything to keep the committed players who are playing the game FOR the PLAYER interactions in a long time. I understand this as there aren't many spenders here because they are rarer. But I think it affects the sea as a whole because I've had this feeling for so long.

TLDR : I more or less quit the game because of the lack of balance and diversity in play-style forcing you to play as double gun gally to have a fair fight if you want said fight to not drag on for 6 hours. And I'm sure that many players of all skill levels feel the same way about this aspect of the game.
I don't expect you to reply to this as there isn't much to reply to, I'm familiar with your opinions on how the game could be improved in a realistic way and so on and for the most part I'd be inclined to agree. Rare doesn't seem to listen to the players because of how divided players of all games can be on game mechanics in a pvp setting in general.

To anyone reading this, SoT is a really good game and full of amazing interactions, and for the most part you do not need to switch to snipe pistol/blunder to win your encounters, I would say that 95% of encounters can be won with a sword and a pistol.
I just feel like the game lacks something in the boarding and close quarters department.
Sorry for the long rant, I just needed to let it out after reflecting for the past couple of weeks before moving on from the game for the unforeseeable future. I'll of course still be keeping up to date just in case by watching and smashing the like button on your videos !
Take care !
