India's government is giving a unique ID to each of its 1.2 billion citizens, creating the world's largest biometric data set. But some are questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to use technology to solve the country's most critical problems: poverty and corruption. The problem is we people do not readily accept changes. Instead of accepting changes we just "whack whack" about the problem and become a part of it which makes it a bigger problem.

that's what happens when you get your tech job done by tcs instead of recruiting your own engineers just to save few bucks

in India our problems are so deep that even a solution to solve one problem would create more problems
Govt needed finger prints of people, but they didnt realized we also have network issues.
Our problems are actually in a circle. To solve one problem we need to solve other problems first and we keep on circling around haha

The point is that the Indian gov't is trying to help it's poor people by technology. It's hard to get 1.3 billion people. You have quoted one street out of 1.3 billion. It shows that the system is working.

It will take some time. People really need to realize that, this is a sudden change that many people were not ready for it. But what else do you expect to teach this large number of people, you've to force them to get adapt to it. This has to be done.

Me along with my team of 2 more people can solve this in systemic way. Using biometric data only. No internet. No hassle. Probably will take 20 second for each customer max.

Problem with india is that it implements great ideas but don’t really execute it really well, and don’t follow back and no bug fixes. All this needs to handled by Private accountable organizations which will work efficiently because they need to make profit.

A 2-3 min. Journalist can not decide any policy.
Ground reality is very different
In India before The biometric system
Corruption is huge problem because Ration Holder or Depo Holder is backed(Smuggling) The ration that's why which can't be access to the beneficerris. It is much better than a older manual system
Also mentioning the fingerprint issue which is not truly correct because if in a family having 3-4 member is one's fingerprint can't access so you can try others member so it's not a genuine

Last thing The Ration holder provide more than the two things
Like Vegetables oil, Pulses, bazra, etc..
🤨
