Imagine you just bought a BMW X1, and on the very first day, your car gets towed from the road. And when you finally receive it, it’s damaged and you end up paying lakhs of rupees for its repair.

This is what Dhananjaya Bharadwaj faced in 2017, and this pushed him to solve one of the major problems in Indian cities. Parking.

And before we discuss this product, let me tell you a few facts about parking in India.

97% of all the parking is unorganized in India. Secondly, an average Indian driver spends 20 minutes daily finding a parking spot. And finally, India might face a parking pandemic by 2028, because of a lack of space.

And these alarming facts pushed Dhananjaya Bharadwaj and Abhimanyu Singh to start ParkMate. A platform that provides real-time parking service. Their dedicated Valet picks up your car from anywhere you want, parks it, and brings it for you on-demand, all of this for only 49 Rs + parking charges.

Currently, they are only available in Delhi, Jaipur, and Lucknow and will soon launch in other metro cities in India.

I went to lodha smartcity in dombivli once. They have 5-7 storey building dedicated for parking and there are many buildings like that so there is no parking problem there. This tells us that we just need well planned cities

I think investing in car parking infrastructure would solve this issue more. We need multi story parking facilities at crowded areas which people will happy to pay, it will reduce the tow away fear and solve unorganised parking on road.

What we actually need is a multi level parking infrastructure every 2-5 km radius in crowded areas.
Also, monthly passes can be made in residential areas with street space issues.
The government can themselves do this and make some money out of it.
In tier 1 and tier 2 cities almost every household has a car nowadays.
