Well, to be honest, I was a little confused by your review.

You say that the book’s ideas were deep and intelligent and far-ranging, and that you basically agree with Carroll’s views and philosophy of “poetic naturalism.”

But then you say that you don’t recommend the book because it was in parts repetitious, too long, confusing - and some parts were over-explained while other parts were under-explained.

But you never gave any examples of what you meant by any of this. What examples do you have of the repetition or confusion or “under” or “over” explanation?

The review itself was therefore a little difficult to understand. Anyway, thanks for your comments regardless.

P.S. I later bought this book anyway. Yes it was very long. The book did seem a little disjointed and jumped around a bit. But the chapters were short and could almost be read as “stand alone”, as another person here mentioned.

Carroll is definitely a deep and knowledgeable thinker and writer, but he’s heavily immersed in naturalism philosophy which drives and colors his whole worldview.
