HOW TO | Fix a Hissing Toilet
Показать описание
In this video I share what I did to fix my hissing toilet. The source of my problem was the fill valve. But if you get hissing and have ripples of water in your bowl you may have a leaky flapper, check the Additional INFO links below to see how to test for a leaky flapper.
If your shut-off valve next to the toilet does not shut off the water supply to your toilet, you will need to find your main shut off valve to your whole house and shut off the water from there.
In this video I reused the old shank and saved the new shank just in case my old shank gets a leak. This installation was in my toilet, so I don't mind reusing the shank because I can replace it when needed. I recommend replacing the fill valve and shank if you are installing it in someone else's house. I plan to upgrade to another toilet fill valve in a couple of years or so.
The last time I bought a new toilet fill valve from Home Depot, it had an old fill valve inside. I'm guessing someone took out the new valve, put the old valve inside the box, and returned it to the store for a refund. I suppose the staff didn't catch it and put it back on the shelf.
