Watched this movie as a kid and this scene haunted me. It's literally the reason why I always watch my kids like a hawk whenever they're outside...

This scene is particularly tragic because it shows how life can suddenly become dark in the blink of an eye. One minute, the family is having a picnic with their friend Jud, laughing and having a great time. The next, their toddler is dead and so are all their hopes and dreams for him.

Casting chose the most sweetest little boy ever. What a lil cutie. Even the evil Gage was just too adorable.

This scene always broke my heart. It really shows what could happen if you turn away for one second

I know this is weird but the thing that REALLY got me about this scene is how he was in a dead on SPRINT after him instead of that cliche fake run you see all the time...it really gives the scene just that much more emotion and I applaud for that 👏

I saw this movie scene when I was 8 and it traumatized me. The one thing that makes me feel better is seeing both of the men chasing after him, and the fact that the truck flips over...everybody did try to save him.

This movie has me sobbing. Imagine a parent so grief stricken that they would try anything to bring back their child. Absolutely heart breaking. Sending so much love to those who have lost a precious child❤🙏🏼🕊️

16 seconds. The father had his back to his kid for that long. Having three kids myself, it's amazing what ground they can cover in that time frame.

The way Gage looks up at the truck so innocently, not knowing any better of what was to come.

This was a very hard scene to watch. It really captures how quickly life can be taken away

For me, this was the second most heart-breaking scene in the movie. The wasy Louis screams is just soul-wrenching. The first was when Louis has to kill Gage by injecting him and Gage cries out in pain. The look on Louis's face is just... devastation. Even all these years later I still remember these scenes with clarity just because of how emotionally impactful they were.

This scene is even more terrifying because something like this almost happened to Stephen King’s own son. He was able to reach him in time, but was haunted by the thought of what might’ve happened if he had been just a second slower. This is what inspired him to write Pet Sematary.

Cutest baby I've ever seen in a movie. Even when he's corrupted, still cute af.

I can't imagine losing a child under any circumstances. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost a child.

What gets me the most, every time, is the part they didn't include in this clip. Where the father screams in anguish right after it happens as they put flashes of Gage"s baby pictures on screen, so tragic and sad.

It’s weird watching a movie you haven’t seen in years and all the people look much younger.

It’s scary cause the family interactions feel so real, it's almost depressing since it feels so real

This movie is very depressing and dark. Everything from Pascow's death to Church's death. Missy's death by hanging & everything with Zelda, to this scene with Gage is absolutely traumatizing and devastating. Jud's death to Louis having to put Gage down again and having to relive losing his son again, to losing his wife. It's a good movie, but super depressing all around.

“why does a kid have to die?”
because the grief of losing a child is far worse than anything, and it’ll make you want to do absolutely everything to get them back
