Fun fact, a vet sedated the cat and the cat actually got the calming ("dead") effects

I remember being 10 years older and watching this movie, having finally convinced my parents that I was mature enough to handle the gore. This scene had me bawling my eyes out for days, being a cat owner at the time.

I know the cat is already dead and possessed by a demon, but it still hurts watching this. Mostly because I'm a cat owner and can't imagine having to use my cat's trust to put him down for his own good.

This is so sad even though that Church already died and was possessed after but it's still sad because it's never easy too put down a poor animal.

0:42 “today is thanksgiving day for cats, if only if they came back from the dead” somehow I like that quote

I don't care what anyone says. This is the most disturbing scene in the movie. Way more disturbing than the entire remake. This scene spoke to you and made you feel it's rawness.

Am I the only one who loves the “lie down. Play dead. Be dead!” Line? It’s when he finally had enough and really realizes that sometimes dead is in fact better. (Until he tries to revive his wife like a dumbass lmao but he was struck with grief so I can understand, but now that poor little girl is left without not only her brother, but her parents as well)

Church was a British Blue. Really impressed that in a horror movie they did Not use a black cat

scariest part of this entire movie was the blind date I ended up with when I went to see this as a teenager....

The TV version in the 90s always cut the part out with Louis grabbing the cat and injecting him with poison. The edit seemed to imply that Louis tainted the steak with poison and fed it to Church.

You can’t tell me that this wasn’t some fine acting from the dad. The look on his face as he walked across the road and when he screams, “be dead!”

Remake:He's left on the road

You know a wiki says church is the main villain of this film but he doesn’t do much
