As a Thai, this kind of scam is very classic. It has been going on for a long time and the police have never done anything. Thank you very much for making this clip. It is very useful for tourists.

You shouldn't blur the faces of those scammers. Let the world see who they are so future tourists can avoid them.

I am Korean
I visit Thailand every year to play all the golf courses.
In my experience, most Thai people are friendly and kind.
Avoid famous tourist spots and tuk-tuks.
Bangkok also has a great public transportation system. Use BTS, MRT, Grab, Volt.
There are many good temples, good golf courses, and friendly Thai people in Rangsit, Bangsaen, and other provinces.
Oh, and one tip: Thai people respect people who talk softly and whisper.
I hope you have a peaceful trip in Thailand.

Having lived in Bangkok for a number of years, I avoid going to tourist locations and I certainly avoid tuk tuks like the plague. Unlike taxis, which are regulated and the fares are based on distance and time, tuk tuk drivers will often quote fares in excess of a taxi for the same distance.

I was scammed in the floating market. I took a picture with a clown and suddenly he wanted money, I thought it was for free. And I almost got pickpocketed. I reported to the tour guide and he just smiled. Don't go there

I once worked together with a tuk tuk driver to "scam" the scam shops :
Together with a tuk tuk driver went to a scam jewelry shop and scam tailor shop.
When a tuk tuk driver brings a foreigner who buys something, they get a commission.
But also when the foreigner does NOT buy anything, but spends a minimum time in the shop, the tuk tuk driver gets a small amount - at the time 100 baht.
So I pretended to be interested and spend long enough in the shop without buying anything to get the driver his tip.
I got a little bit of his tip from him as a token of appreciation.
Was just 1 time for fun, because obviously not worth it for the money for me.

The pressure to buy something was insane though. Every excuse I threw at them was countered.

no self-respecting Thai person would sit with the sole of his foot facing the Buddha . This is not permissible in Thais cultures and traditions that I know.

This is so true, thanks for sharing. Sometime they don’t wait for you to go to the temple, some tuktuk drivers try to take take you from the side of the road randomly for the same scam, and can get verbally aggressive. They tried with me when I was in Bangkok too. This does not happen in Chiang Mai.

This happened to me about 15 years ago within hours of arriving in Bangkok, I quickly realised when helpful strangers kept popping up and gave the tuk-tuk driver the slip at a market, so I got a short ride for free

Been in Thailand for three weeks recently. It IS thanks to vids like these, that I walked out almost financially unharmed. A Sukhotai resort tried to rob me of 840 unspecified Baht, but our Thai travel-guide (I was in a group-tour) saw to it that, a week later, I got fully reimbursed. It's generally a trouble-free country in this respect but you need to stay sharp and focussed.
