Requiring classes that are completely unrelated to your degree is a scam.

My son is a plumber and 34 years old and never went to college, last year he made $160, 000 and rarely ever works past 4:30 and never works weekends!!!

I'm an accountant. I chose to study accounting because students that graduated with that degree from my university had a 100% job placement rate in the accounting field.

However, 80% of the classes I had to take to get that degree were completely useless to my career.

It's a scam.

I'm a physician. NO ONE needs a college degree to be a PHYSICIAN, and I cannot emphasize enough that I am saying this as a physician. I was valedictorian of my high school, and could have and SHOULD have been able to go DIRECTLY to medical school. Instead, I had to waste four years in college to get a biology degree I don't use and didn't need. Even worse, it cost me tens of thousands of dollars to do so, and four years of the prime of my life. In modern times it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. In order to get the biology degree, there were only about ten classes genuinely needed for the degree which I should have been able to get in just one year meaning I had four years of unnecessary fluff classes. Charlie is right. It is a scam for EVERYONE including the STEM students until they offer degrees in 1-2 years.

I never graduated HS. I studied bladesmithing in Japan for years. No degree and I own my business making high quality Japanese style knives and blades. I make more money than my 3 younger sisters who went to college.

College students whining and complaining about the COST of college and demanding tax payers flip the bill had better be serious about what degree they obtain..

I saved for my kids college education. I raised them conservative. They decided to go to trade schools instead. I paid for them to go. They now are 23 and 25 with great jobs, no college debt and are very happy. As a parent I'm happy to say that they will do better than I did, and I did well. Best part for me was windfall retirement money that we weren't counting on. If you don't have to go to college don't. My kids would run rings around this arrogant kid who thinks he can debate. My kids would spot his condescension and immediately know how to make him look like a fool. They've taken out people a lot smarter than this kid. Yeah, I'm a proud dad.

I'm a college graduate and yes college is a for profit scam. I've NEVER ever used my degree for anything.
