Communication, honesty and offering to come back if something isn't right. And definitely show up when you say, or call and tell them your new time. If you do sleazy work, you will be figured out and never get return business, so that fate takes care of itself. Word spreads if you do well I have found. Great video!

I used to manage a hi-rise condo building. An owner hired a handyman to change out kitchen faucets. He arrived with brand new tools and demanded a water shutdown so he could change out the shut-off valves. We accommodated him and shut the risers for HW and CW, making 12 apartments to have no water. He could not solder the new valves in place, taking hours to try. He left the building, got into his truck, and NEVER CAME BACK! I had to bring in a plumbing contractor to complete the work on an emergency basis (after 5:00 PM). The owner was then grateful, but soon refused to pay the plumbing bill, claiming her handyman should pay it; he could not be reached. Sometimes you just can't win!

Good advice. Thanks. I realize I have been making these mistakes.

I try to ring the customer's door bell to the minute of appointments. That has impressed customers and been very good for my business. If you want to earn an excellent income, be an excellent service provider. Let's all do our best to be the best we can in every way. Don't just satisfy customers, delight them.

Can you please show us a sample of your estimate on your next video? How do you list your parts and labor? Do you show the cost of every item you use for the job? (detailed)? or you just have parts X amount and labor X amount?

Also how often are your estimates are different amount than your invoice?

Thank you so much for all your hard work and amazing inspiring videos.

That’s great advice. I am building my business, around 25 billable hours a week; for the same reasons that you had mentioned. There is no room, for messing over customers.

True in all construction trades, as well as most any service business. We promise almost nothing....ever. We give a really good scope of work, and then try to outdo that.

I'd like to see a video on how you deal with customers who want something that you don't provide(roof repair or specialty work) or have jobs that are too big for your company.

I like the idea of having a day for estimating

You should show how you do your certain jobs step by step. Helps fellow handymen to pick up different skills

How do you pay for the materials for a job do you make the customer pay?

No licence = Don't care about anything but the money? No licence = Don't care about the customer? Really? Whatever dude. You have diluted your self and your reality! I do jobs under $500 so I don't legally have to be licencesed. So because of this I don't care ? I save my customers more money than would be possible to keep track of. So miss me with your inaccurate misconceptions & defamation of unlicensed handymen! Obviously a little offended by your comments.

You actually tell customers that you need to talk to your wife before you can give them a price???

You can't give customer price on spot. Come on man.
Ask your wife how much you can charge the customer.
