(Portal 2) GladOS PotatOS Lament OST (800% slower ambient version)

I took my favorite Portal2 song and stretched/slowed it down just for fun, and the result is 800% more creepy, solitary, and depressing.

Listening to this reminds me of a soul lost alone forever, and makes me think about what it must be like for artificial intelligence (like that portrayed in Portal, aka GladOS) to be "still alive", but forgotten or abandoned for eternity.

I then added a rumbly sub-bass track to give a very uneasy feeling to it, a sense of dread and unrest. I also took the melody and pitched it up an octave higher, and faded it in and out softly throughout the whole song to give a false impression of company, like a ghost that vanishes as soon as you notice it. Truly alone.

The image used is a Portal wallpaper that I found fitting, edited heavily for effect, and then "animated" to fit the flickering, dimming hope one feels while listening.

Sorry for the lack of real content on here, but I hope someone else out there can enjoy this as much as I can. Certainly, I'm not the only one out there who can relate to this feeling.....

..... or is my soul truly alone in the universe?

(Disclaimer stuff: Portal2 and the original song are owned by Valve, and this video is not monetized in any way. Just a fan creation/edit under fair use)

You know what this reminds me of? Drifting in space. Imagine yourself, flying through nothingness, with your only companion being the moon and the sun. And then you hear this playing in your radio transceiver. You realize that you are farther than anyone has ever been from home. You are in the void of space. The realm of silence. This music then beckons you into sleep, to finally escape this deathly place. Your last helmet light flickers out, along with your last breath of oxygen. Goodbye Earth... space is my new home.

It's so scary but somehow really sad. It's like if Glados is just in her final days before everything goes dark. Everything around her starts to fall apart slowly. Her turrets would start running out of power due to the factories that produce them are now in disrepair. Her base slowly collapses under the weight of the upper ground above her. The thing that's weighing on her is life, life which peaceful, she herself would never see such a thing like that forever, except chell, & the foliage which has grown in here base centuries back. The darkness fills around her overtime & the foliage of life in her base starts to slowly decay due to light having a harder time reaching down to the base, & everything around the base bound to collapse at a moments notice. Till now it's been centuries since, & due to all of Glados's systems dead, she can't do anything to repair her entire base. She can't help, she can't get in contact with others, & sadly she can't do anything about the situation she's in. In centuries of darkness Glados is the only one left, no one to communicate with, no one to socialize, or no one to sing or do anything to her, even her friend she tried to kill during her testing, chell isn't here, & is most likely dead centuries ago. Few months later Glados starts to run out of power, & during her final hours, she sang. What she sang was A long but erie song, a song which ran that long due to the low power she has. She sang for 15 minutes, till her lights fade, & her power like A whimper. After her final hours, Glados goes dark, just like the rest of the base. No one heard her last song, & is forgotten, to history.

I always thought this one song captured lower aperture so well. Gone to history, buried beneath time, yet still alive and running. The horror of aloneness, a great wonder of the world completely sealed off

I seriously wish more people made stuff like this. The only other good one I've found is a slowed down version of Nine Inch Nails "A Warm Place", which is fucking brilliant, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of content similar to this or that anywhere. Thanks for making this though!

They say absolute power corrupts absolutely. But what happens to a power-mad tyrant who is cast down, screaming and completely helpless, into an abyss of her own making, and she stares into the oncoming darkness, knowing her fate is not hers to make, but that she is powerless at the whims and will of one she's spent so long tormenting?

The way the song is portrayed almost sounds like a nightmare that won't end!

3 years later but, man, this is really beautiful! Reminds me of how weird the world is like existence, life and death, the universe and things that give a lot of existential questions.
Really cool ♡!

It's always a pleasure to see or in this case, hear a different point of view from you when you're able. It's almost comforting in a creepy morbid way and at least we know that neither of us has to worry about our souls ever being lost and alone. :)

I'm really happy I was able to listen to this, the settle flickering in the video and the extra effort you went through to give the song more layers and appeal is always something I treasure since you always put more effort in what you create than most would.
Wonderful creation as always!

so- this may be, like, 3 years later, but- I just wanted to say that I've listened to this a *lot* since I first found it, and I love it. It's creepy, it is indeed unsettling, it really has the feel that you were going for. For that reason, I also call it wonderful despite making me feel depressed-

I appreciate that you put in the effort to make it. Good job ^^
