Much better than the other video I watched! Thanks.

This video is a gold mine. I had about 30 questions in regards to roboports, construction and logistics network spans, different box types and for some reason what the purpose of barrels were, and now I can continue on my path of democracy with MANY fewer mental obstacles. Thanks so much! This video made me relate the logistics networks to G&M code logic commands which I understand, and I wasn’t able to make that connection before now!

Thank you for this video! I didn't quite understand their purpose before - I guess a simple way to think about them is a "belt upgrade".

1:20 1. Have a powered Roboport (and manually place robots in there).
1:30 2. Effective range robots will work in.
1:40 3. Expand that range and make a bigger Logistics network.
2:04 4. The 2 basic logistics chests (🟥+ 🟦).
2:15 5. How to start using those chests.
3:49 6. Example of point 5 in action (smelting ore).
4:59 7. Example of the Logistics Storage network.
6:01 8. Another example of point 5 in action (assembly machine).
8:04 9. Personal Logistics.
8:50 10. Logistics Storage chest (🟨).
9:49 11. Logistics and fluids.
11:00 12. Active Provider chest (🟪).
11:40 13. TL;DR on the Requester chest (🟦).
12:02 14. TL;DR on the Passive Provider chest (🟥).
12:16 15. TL;DR on the Active Provider chest (🟪).
12:33 16. TL;DR on the Storage chest (🟨).
12:43 17. Example of Active Provider chest use.

hell yeah thank you man, so excited to use robots now!!

The green chest replaces the blue and the red. And you use it to move material across a large base so the robots don't have to go as far.

thank you mate!

very informative and simple to understand too <3

great video -- maybe this is the 2nd time I'm watching it in two years but still good! Even besides the basics I learn things like... yes you can make Roboports connected for miles and miles -- people do that and maybe I should!!

So they have no use untill you unlock the blue ones?

Storage chest has higher priority than passive provider. So it is also very important chest especially with filter... Logistic bots will first search in storage chests before passive providers. You can do without passive provider but not storage chest...

In addition to above, for example while base moving or big upgrading, gathering resoruces to storage chests and depleting them first before passive providers are also good idea. Or if you want to finish all starter patch before outpost ones, storage chests are also good option.

Your compact build is not ups friendly. You need to arrange and model your factory in such a way that, there should exist fewer requester and storage/passive provider chests. You need to be able to feed at least 3 assemblers with one chest so less ups work for bots. T shape designs are good for example.

TL;DW
Optimised explanation:
Roboport charges and stores robots. While you are placing one, red area is where logistics robots reach, red+green area is where construction robots reach.
To connect Roboports, the red squares must be touching, a yellow line will be visible, that means these are part of the same logistics network.

Requester Chest = Robots put stuff here
Passive provider chest = Robots take stuff here
Active provider chest = Robots take stuff as fast as possible here
Storage chest = Robots put stuff when they can't put it in requester chests

Old explanation:
TL;DW
Put down a Roboport or multiple. Roboport is where robots recharge and sit when they're done.
Red area is where logistics robots work, red+green area is where construction robots work.
If you use multiple, the red squares must be touching, a line will form, that means they're now part of the same logistics network.
Requester Chest = Where robots put stuff
Passive provider chest = Where robots take stuff
Active provider chest = Where robots take stuff as fast as possible
Storage chest = Where they put stuff when they can't put it in requester chests

Great video with good usefull info👍But maybe I may suggest that you slow it down a little, and for instance keep your cursor a little longer on the items you use so the pop-up menu is visible for a few seconds more. Thank you👍

So, let's say you have one zone (zone 1) for a logistic network connected to five other zones, and in the furthest away zone (zone 6) you have some say batteries in a robo chest, that you want to zone 1 - will the robots co-operate to move the batteries from zone 6 to zone 1, or do they strictly work within their zone?

Thank you bro, great tutorial, now i know how to robot

I don't understand only 1 thing. Do I put the robots in every roboport equally. Or just dump it in one and they'll go where they needed? I kinda can't commit to robots, just because of this uncertainty.

Thx I guess, yet I basically only learnt that you have four chests only one of which seems totally obsolete; as it immediately try's to
remove anything placed in it. I thought the chests had to be linked using red wire?

So when research unlocks Passive and Storage chests, they're useless because you don't have requestor chests?😊
