You have a knack for breaking language down into digestible morsels without sacrificing their relevance to everyday speech. Bravo, Cari. And Janusz! -Phill, Las Vegas

Thanks for the lessons, they are always helpful and practical. The one thing that I find challenging in Gerrman besides the propositions are the combined words.

*Bei wem wohnst du? Ich wohne bei meiner Tante.*
This does not mean that you are living with someone equally together. In the case of my example answer you are living with your aunt, but your aunt owns the house or appartment. She sets the rules, not you together.

*Mit wem wohnst du (zusammen)? Ich wohne mit meiner Tante zusammen.*
This is the question and answer, if you are living with your aunt and either you are owning the housing or you are sharing a housing, without refering to the ownership. You both set the rules equally.

I was watching the ZDF show Bares fuer Rares, and at least twice I heard "bei" used with accusative. For example, the Haendler Walther Lehnertz said, "Engelchen, komm bei mich." I guess he's from the Eifel, and he likes speaking incomprehensible, rough-hewn dialect. Do north German dialects often have trouble with (or even omit) the dative? I reckon the Dutch do. Sometimes Horst Lichter uses the North German "dat" instead of "das." And of course Ludwig Hoffmeier pours on the Bavarian . . .

Thanks! Great video. I'm always being corrected by natives on my misuse of prepositions whenever I'm in Germany (although I'm told that it's a tough subject to learn in English, too!). 😹😹

Dieser Serie hat mir so viel geholfen! 👍
