German Prepositions | Prepositions of direction | nach, zu, in, auf, an | Richtungspräpositionen

In this lesson I am going to teach you in detail when to use ALL 5 German prepositions of direction. In German we call them "Richtungspräpositionen". They are: nach, zu, in, auf, an.
Specially the two prepositions in and zu kind be quiet confusing as they sometimes both can be used for the same sentence... but... there is a small difference, which I will explain in this video.

It's a topic which that lots of German students struggle with. But there are actually certain rules or tendencies which you can apply to get the German prepositions of direction right from the beginning.

Mistake: The preposition "nach" comes with the Dative case (not accusative).

Finally a German teacher who is clear and thorough (and lesson material that is well-organized and complete)! Now I will need plenty of practice choosing which version of "to" to use, in which contexts, in order to get used to the collocations. I wish an instructor like you (and maybe your team, if there is another author for this material) would produce textbooks with workbooks, online exercises, and curriculum for professional German teachers, because my current textbook is severely lacking in clarity, detail, examples, exercises. Coming from English, I need practice to adjust to choosing different prepositions in situations which all require only "to" in English with no change of form for articles or any grammatical cases.

It's so nice to learn a different language and all the special cases. Here in Brazil, we speak portoghese, and we also have a lot of those little rules in our prepositions, but we never pay attention, because we are used to.
