He’s so tragic because he doesn’t do horrible things it’s the people around him

He has to be at least one of the most innocent people in Westeros

The reason why Tommen and Myrcella wasn't like Joffrey is because Cersei focused all her attention on her eldest son.

If Tommen were the elder

Ned: "Steffon Baratheon... Black of hair. Robert Baratheon... Black of hair. Tommen Baratheon... 😮"

Tommen: "I drawed you a picture Uncle Ned."

I’m surprised that Tywin didn’t think of that idea. But then again, Tommen and Sansa are very different in age and the need to breed heirs would be a priority on Tywin’s list. Plus, he may have feared Sansa influencing Tommen in the event that Joffrey may die and he would become King. So marrying her to Tyrion was more of a way to have more control on Sansa and the North, while keeping her away from the Throne and influencing the one who sits on it.

One thing I always appreciated about Tommen was that he loved his mother, but he clearly had an understanding that she was a wicked person, which was why he cleaved to Marjorie who seemed to have a better heart.

Tommen is too pure for ASoIaF. They honestly did him dirty in the show. Kid just wanted to play with kittens

Tommen in the books was completely different. He was pudgy boy that’s best delight was to use the stamp to seal official letters and playing with his kittens. Cersei would punish him by beating his whipping-boy (which Tommen hated to see him being tortured) and taking away his kittens.

It's really horrible how Cercei tries hard to turn Tommen into Joffrey. Such a tragic character. An innocent kid who searches for inspiration in the right places and is only punished for it by his viscious mother.

Like Joffery would allow anything that made Sansa happy

Tommen saw Joffrey for what he was, a monster and decided he'll never become like him that's why Tom was such a good kid.

I like the Tommen of the show though. Well intentioned, clever and doesn't want to hurt anyone. But too pure for the ASOIAF world, too pure, and he kills himself because of it. It's a tragic character. Doomed by his own naivety. I like him.

If Tommen had been old enough to consummate the marriage, Tywin might have considered that rather than marrying her to Tyrion. One issue is that Tommen is legally a Baratheon, not a Lannister. Tywin was very focused on building the Lannister legacy, and the point of marrying Tyrion to Sansa was to put Lannisters in charge of Winterfell. If Tommen had been older, Tywin would have had to weigh his hatred of Tyrion against his desire to see Lannisters rule the north.
