During times of crisis and uncertainty, it can be difficult and overwhelming to sort fact from fiction. In response, physicians at UC San Diego Health have launched the COVID-19 Virtual Grand Rounds Series, a six-part live video symposium that will focus on topics related to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

Part One – Research in the COVID Pandemic: Navigating the Gap from Anecdotes to Evidenced-Based Decisions (July 22, 2020): Judith Currier, MD, Professor of Medicine and Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases, University of California Los Angeles, discusses the unprecedented scientific response to SARS-CoV-2, and how clinical and translational research play a vital role. Currier highlights the pathogenesis of the disease, challenges in designing and implementing clinical trials for medications to treat a new virus, progress to date, lessons learned, and vaccine development.
