I think what he was trying to say is that God is in control but not at the capacity where he's pulling our strings like puppets. Because if that were the case that would mean Free Will is an illusion therefore a lie. He orders our steps but we have to walk those steps.

I have an amazing testimony from this morning. A friend has had a s3ries of strokes and has been in hospital for 4 weeks, looking at a 12 month stay at $80 a day.
We were sitting down the waterfront discussing this, and she was told there is no way she can go home.
We start speaking with a lady walking past with a dog, and she is a home care nurse.
We talked about it, and it turns out my friend an go home with lots of paperwork to be done.
To top it off she also became a Christian today just before all this happened.
Think of all the things that had to fall into place for these things to happen like they did. I told the nurse that she, today, is a Godsend.
Not a series of miracles, not God’s amazing providence, only able to happen like it did, because God is in control. I'm humbled by God's love, concern, and abundant blessings to His children.
Only because He is in total control can He orchestrate things this way. AMEN
