I’ve been going through kidney failure the whole time I’ve been watching you. Before I started dialysis I saw my face swell, as well as my legs while I was working at an anime convention. Stairs was brutal I felt like I could actually feel the extra fluid sloshing around. Things are a lot better now and I’m about to graduate and interviewing with tech companies.

Just take it one day at a time and don’t overwork yourself.

Hey there KJ. Just to let you know. This experience that you're going through - it's there to teach you some important lessons for your own life. This certainly sounds so cheesy but its nothing but the truth. Take it easy brother. I know that you'll recover soon and find new exciting things to do once you are completely off of your medications :)

Don’t worry man. I was on anxiety medication and I gained 60 pounds. I am off of it now and the process begins. Enjoy the journey. You’re so awesome and your videos are delightful to watch.

YOUR video reached me. Thank YOU. I am currently struggling with a health issue myself. The health issue isn't, at least for me, 100% the problem, its what my mind does with it. And I think what I am about to say, many people who have health challenges can & will relate to! My mind can awfulize things and go to the darkest place, making problems, including my health, a lot harder than they have to be. That's not to say my health problem isn't hard, because it is. Every day can be a challenge. But when my thinking grips me into the "what ifs", or "this isn't fair" or "I should be doing better than I am", it makes suffering harder than it needs to be. Like you, my health problem has enabled me to see things differently.

I am learning to fight when I can, but then accept when I can. Acceptance for me isn't to surrender the fight, it is to surrender "my way". I have always thought and wanted to control my life, and I am learning I don't have control, its an illusion. Believing I was strong, when I wasn't. Pretending I knew the answers when I didn't, this was all forms of trying to control. What I projected was "true", because I honestly believed it was. (Self-Delusion). When I saw it for what it really was (me being fake) I worked especially hard to reverse it. Like you, I am working especially hard to "open up" and "own" my shit. Not minimizing my problems or my hardships, but not catastrophizing them either. Good luck my friend!

Thank you for this video. This story is similar to mine, and you're partially responsible for some parts of it. I discovered your channel in high school and got inspired to pursue education in a stem field. But soon after getting into my dream uni, I got covid. I didn't even get sick from it but somehow the virus fried my nervous system. I had never had a headache before and suddenly I started having migraines every other day. My brain function went to shit. I used to have excellent memory and concentration, in high school I got top grades in most subjects without even studying. This virus turned me into a zombie but I had to keep competing with some of the most brilliant people in the world. I used to box and lift but physical exertion started to give me nerve pains and would push my heart rate to 200. Over half a year later, I'm starting my second year. It was a slow road to recovery and I'm not yet the man I used to be, but I can finally study normally and my migraines are weaker and rarer. Ill have to rebuild my habits and my discipline, but the experience also gave me an important outlook on life. I wish you all the best and this too shall pass!

Chronic illness can feel very lonely. It’s obviously not a great thing hearing about someone else struggling but reassuring to hear someone else speak about their struggle. Stranger or not. I’m also going through life changing, out of the blue, health issues as a super healthy athletic individual. I am a shell of my former self and was thrown off the rails of where I thought I was going in life. Coming to terms with the change and realizing you have to learn to give yourself some slack is the hardest part. It’s okay to be derailed for a bit but it doesn’t mean you need to stop forward progress and there aren’t things to be grateful for. I stumbled across your channel while looking for motivation for career progression and seeing this video was something I really needed today. Thanks for being vulnerable and for not giving up on yourself.

Hello kj, honestly you're a legend for talking about this and thinking that way about your sickness, this is something you should be grateful for, accepting yourself and your life what ever the phase you're experiencing is a gift not everyone have it, I'm so proud of your and I pray to get better and stay peaceful and always content

You’re amazing KJ! As an RN, I have seen a lot of people go through things and if they have a positive vibe and mindset, it makes things better and more of a chance to improve, even proven by studies. Keep up the positivity and thanks for updating me! You’re just a genuine and kind person. Let’s be friends. Lol

What a brave thing to share about your experience. This will help so many people. It is especially helpful that you remind us it’s ok to have low moments because they pass and it’s normal not to feel so positive 100% of the time. You are amazing!

The title of this video made be sigh ngl. Just the night before I was thinking about how worthless I am, couldn't even sleep, stayed up for the entire night thinking about how much of a bad experience I'm having. Glad you're finding the positive in it man, keep going. Videos like this give me hope sometimes.

I am so so sorry about what you are going through. I noticed the physical change that you've undergone in your latest video and was curious as to what happened. I am so very inspired by your tenacity and positivity. I heard you say that you're currently on a leave of absence from your studies at Stanford. I am a Stanford student too. I hope to get to see you once you're back on the farm. Until then, all the best!
