Sir how will we come to know..which factors to take?...coz for 12... We could have also taken 6x2...and for 72...12x6..bt when I multiply...2x12 I get 24 and not 27...so how will we come to know...which factors to take for a given number?

Thank you so much sir, I’ve had all teachers explain, watched a lot of YouTube videos before coming across this, and I understand yours only❤

That trick is "automatic". You take the least multiples of the two numbers. Consider in each branch exactly the first from the left is the largest and the second from the left in the same branch as the smaller. Do it in both branches. Afterwards, do exactly that subtraction in that designed order between the branches using that internal and external arcs. This method is amazing. The rest is just to reduce the coefficients using gdc to decrease long arithmetic. It is the fast method ever.

I love doing quadratic equations. My favourite method is making the square because one has to keep juggling numbers around, but factoring is fun, too. Using the formula is quite boring by comparison. Thanks for posting these lessons sir.

Wow, that actually worked. Ive been stumped on a problem for about an hour looking how to solve big numbers like this.

We are looking for two numbers a na b, such as a*b=12*72, and a+b=-59
a+b<0 and a*b>0 so a<0 and b<0.
We know that: 12=3*4 and 72=8*9.
4*8=32 and 3*9=27
32+27=59
a=-32 and b=-27

3x-8=0 or 4x-9=0
x=8/3 or x=9/4

Well explained through out solution step by step. The critical point he shows is, how 59 to be the part of the quadratic equation that not rocket science. But use little brainstorming puzzle - two numbers are there.
He just factored them; 12 = 3.4 & 72 = 8.9
Figure out - 59
Only way, -27 & -32
-27 +(-32) = -59

When you factored 12 x 72 as 4 x 3 x 9 x 8, there was no explanation why you didn't use 2 x 6 x 3 x 24, or any other set of factors... what's up with that?!?

Thank you. I was very irritated when I was not getting some examples in the textbook I was working from. Now I know how to get them right

Hello just wanted to say thanks for this video. This helped me understand in a short amount of time and is better than my Teacher’s explanation which is very confusing. Thank you vv much!!

The question is, how were you able to come up with the exact factors of 12 and 72 that can get us to the middle term which is -59????
