Boosting metabolism is what I think I’ve experienced. Last June I started the Keto diet and over the next few months gained 13 lbs. Now I don’t consider myself a yo-yo dieter over my lifetime but I have exercised fairly regularly most of my adult life and periodically tried to limit junk food in order to reduce extra pounds. Well in 2016 I found myself to be at my highest weight and frustrated with those strategies no longer working for me as a 49 year old at the time. I joined a program called Bright Line Eating which offered lots of support and a diet plan and I found success with a 50+ pound weight loss that brought me back to my pre-pregnancy weight that I had not seen for 20+ years. By the way, I’ve since figured out that the BLE plan was a “balanced” plan with about 33% fat, 33% protein and 33% carb including ditching sugar and flour which was a big help for me but grains were not entirely eliminated. Well it didn’t take long for me to start craving something. Never sugar or flour but I was craving either protein or fat or both. So I started eating off the BLE plan and had gained almost 20 lbs back when I started Keto. Switching to Keto I gained an additional 13 lbs before stabilizing. Each time I tried to reduce fat or protein on Keto to reduce caloric intake and attempt to get fat burning turned on, I would just get hungry and end up eating more of something. Now that it’s been almost a year on pretty strict Keto I feel like my body is finally starting to trust me to give it what it needs. I haven’t started exercising yet like I would really like to but hope to get that going again after my broken ankle heals. Yep, I broke my ankle about the time I started to feel really well fat adapted and moving in the right direction with appetite control. I just can’t believe I’ve stuck with Keto for nearly a year with NO weight loss, only weight gain! All the research I read and hear about Keto has convinced me that this is the best way to eat for my body and health so I’m still committed and will be until I’m convinced otherwise. Thank you Leanne for your contributions to this important lifestyle that so many people need to hear. By the way, my husband joined on Keto me in August last year and has since lost about 50 lbs and got off HBP meds. I’m glad it’s working for him! Part of my problem is that I only have about 20-25 lbs to lose.

Thank you so much for this. I have been eating carnivore and actually adding in some keto foods. But I have actually gained almost 10 lb it’s been making me want to stop doing keto/carnivore but honestly my hair isn’t falling out as much and my skin is so much clearer and my sugar isn’t dropping like it use to all the time. It’s been about 5 to 6 months of eating this way and I still haven’t lost any weight still at the gained weight of about 8 to 10 lbs
