the ident didn't start with the logo perfectly in view, but rather just partway through the video they made. i wonder if C4 is ditching the entire concept of multiple idents, and instead just having one long video play at a random starting time, like bbc one did before they introduced the hot air balloon

Okay, this is a tricky one. I was slightly blindsided by this, I really didn't expect anything decent following the poor F1 and Pride idents I know I'm going against the tide of mass approval of these new idents, but I have to say that I don't like them. Nearly. Very nearly excellent. But there are two elements which are dealbreakers for me. Firstly, I don't like the zooming into that one block over and over. They should have been zooming into different blocks in the logo each time. It takes your eye away from the overall ident and keeps you focused upon an insignificant corner of the screen. Secondly, and mostly, I think they have got it so wrong by mixing all of these otherwise superb sequences into one rotating loop. They should have each been standalone idents. There's too much going on, you have no time to absorb each part of it before the mood shifts and then onto the next and the next. They could have got so much more out of them, by keeping each part as standalone idents

They remind me very much of BBC Two's old Window On The World package. I do like that the 4 logo is now back on screen and the centrepiece of the idents. I see similarities with the 2004 set, in some parts. I think that most people will really like these, and they are very well produced. So credit where it's due. But it hasn't quite hit the mark, for me. Unfortunate, because there's so much excellent work going on in all of them.
