the channel 4 logo is made out of coloured prisms - there is an ident here for each coloured crystal representing the logo in a cool abstract way i think this is pretty rad

Mica Levi composed the soundtrack to the idents, previously working with Glazer on his film Under The Skin. The first ident in the reel sounds very similar to the tracks in the soundtrack to Under The Skin.

I love these adverts so much. They're like views of alternate dimensions. Alien worlds. The music is amazing. Why is everyone concerned with the logo. It's a great advertising strategy. You amaze people with a wonderfully artistic and beautiful advert and allow them to associate the advert with the channel. It's an amazing piece of art.

@Heather Scholey - Jonathan Glazer directed them. He directed the films "Sexy Beast" starring Ray Winstone, Ben Kingsley, Ian McShane and Amanda Redman, "Birth" with Nicole Kidman and "Under the Skin" with Scarlett Johansson. He's also directed music videos for Jamiroquai, Radiohead and Massive Attack and TV & film adverts for Guinness, Nike, Stella Artois, Barclays Bank and Sony.

When do you need idents to properly identify a channel anymore? All digital TV viewers now watch digitally so the channel name comes up in the electronic programme guide. The jagged crystalline blocks are just enough to remind the vast majority of the Channel 4 logo, which comes up at the end of promos anyway. I think it's a great jump forward for channel identity, really appropriate for this time and the medium. They remind me of discovering new land, much like the channel's ideals. Plus... Jonathan Glazer.

I just saw that bird thing come on my tv at night and it scared the hell outta me Dx am I the only one who finds this creepy af ? if I'm gonna have to see that i won't be watching 4 for a while!

Absolutely stunning idents. Loved the one with the little mite called a 'Tardigrade. At first I didn't think it was a real thing - that it must have been someone in a costume. But no. It's real! I was horrified at first, but did some research and now find them cute. Likewise - loved the Zaouli dancer. Such a strong diversity of ideas. I didn't know who Jonathan Glazer was - but I'm now a fan.

These idents are designes to get you thinking what on earth is going on. You only ever see pieces of the 4 logo instead of the whole logo put together.
I think the obscure scenes and the scattered pieces make these idents unique and into intriguing. Some of them are just weird, but my favourite is easily the one at 1:33. Very nostalgic with the music. Reminds me of 60s / 70s films for men!
Ever tune in to something and think, "What the hell is this?" I think that's the idea behind these idents.

I love these idents, after watching them all I get that the segments of the four logo are scattered through them! Very clever, love these. Fave being the dancing... Person?gets my attention every time.
