This precalculus video tutorial explains how to convert polar equations to rectangular equations. It contains plenty of examples and practice problems. In polar form, the equation contains the variables r and theta which is the radius and the angle of the vector. In rectangular form, coordinates are represented by x and y.

It sucks that after every Trigonometry class session I have to come home and watch videos to actually learn the material; but, you, my friend, explain math very well. So well that I understand the material immediately. Thank you for your videos!

for the problem around 15:30, I divided by sintheta like he did, but instead of playing around with tangents, I multiplied the left side by r/r which was a lot less messy for me

Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for showing How to convert Polar Equations to Rectangular Equations and vice versa in Calculus Two. All Calculus Two students should be familiar with this material from Precalculus Mathematics and Trigonometry. This is an error free video/lecture on YouTube TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.

the problem around 15:00 can also done by dividing R by sin^2

R sin^2 = 5 cos
multiply both sides by R
R^2 sin^2 = R 5cos
Rsin * Rsin = R5cos
y^2 = x
