Learn how to write a polar equation in rectangular form

Learn how to convert between rectangular and polar equations. A rectangular equation is an equation having the variables x and y which can be graphed in the rectangular cartesian plane. A polar equation is an equation defining an algebraic curve specified by r as a function of theta on the polar coordinates system.

To convert from rectangular equation to polar equation, we replace x with rcos(theta) and replace y with rsin(theta) where r is given by the square root of the sum of the squares of a and b. And theta is the arctan of the quotient, y / x.

your videos help me alot. we are doing polar equations in my trig class and i would be lost without your video help. Thank you very much.
if you take requests on videos, can you make one on Limaçons, and rose curves.

Your class curriculum is a lot different from ours. Personally I believe completing the square should be learned two years before polar and rectangular coordinates.

My professor had a different answer, r=-8cos(theta) convert to Cartesian form = (x+4)^2+y^2=16 another answer is also r=-8 idk how he got his answers

ex:r sin θ = ln r^2+ ln cos θ and my answer y=ln(x.r). If there is no r^2 the answer lnx is true but we have extra r.WHAT CAN I DO PLEASE I BEGGGG
