Writing sales copy is no walk in the park. You have to be strategic about it if you want to get more customers and help more people. But I've noticed that when most people write sales copy, they often include a big list of features... and stop there.

In this video, I explain why JUST including a list of "what they'll get" isn't enough. I also share what you should do instead. This one important tip can dramatically improve your sales copy.

On a project page for logo designs I had "You will get a one-hour clarity call with me." Now it will say "You will get a one-hour clarity call with me. You should come prepared with your most troubling brand issue, and I'll work through it with you."

What I had on my webpage pricing packages: includes installation licences for x number of registers/terminals.... What I am going to add to that is: ...so you can install the system in the stockroom, your home, a separate department, kitchen, back office, classroom or add a second register for rush hour.

Great video Derek. One thing though. At the end of your video your CTA was to subscribe to Social Triggers. You told us what we'll get and stopped there. I was looking for the why it matters to me on that one. Just thought I'd point that out my friend.

Features VS Benefits. both are useful tho.
each is more appealing for a certain type of person.

the question in hand is not whether its better to just use
"3 logo variations" as your copy, no one will do that,
the question is, if i have limited space (ad copy, staying above the fold, staying in relevant position length wise)
or the opposite, i have UNLIMITED space, where i can write anything that i want and as much as i want.

now, what will go into that space? features, benefits or a mix of both?
will you make it short and miss out on info you would like to be included,
or make it long and miss the readers attention, or even confuse them.

IMO, it all depends on the stage the reader is in into our sales funnel
Benefits are for earlier stages, when you still need to build trust and rapport
while features can help drive an informed decision - for someone who already
know he want X product, or how much he is willing to spend. if ill want to dumb it down:

Benefits = Soft sell = Acquisition - depends on the product AND audience, its usually better for awareness and early interaction
Features = Hard sell = Retargeting \ Remarketing \ Pull marketing - might not have the right impact on cold audiences, BUT

i for example, buy only stuff i intend to buy, and therefore land on pages when i already know im going to buy, and not going trough the whole funnel usually. pull vs push in mind, im in the pull crowd, SO, im more prone to features most of the times.

it really all comes down to understanding your audience, your overall game-plan, and obviously split testing where possible.

Had/Have: "Each of our VSS system's include a step-by-step, wire-to-wire, vehicle specific installation guide that indicates exactly what wire from the system connects to what wire in the vehicle, where the wire is located in the vehicle and how to confirm that you found the correct wire using the VSS kits supplied LED style test probe."

Going to make this the first this line before what is stated and keeping above: "No sitting with a lap-full of "spaghetti-wire" and jumping from wiring chart to manual, trying to figure out what wires are needed (or not needed) that connect to the vehicle."

The henley collars are much better. When you started getting all fancy suits and ties on us, I'll admit, I didn't watch as many of your videos. You came across (visually) like a Microsoft salesman. I like the casual, approachable Derek better.

Ok, Derek... I loved the video and totally did the assignment.. here's mine:

1) WHAT I HAD --> "I LIKE BIG BUTTS."

2) WHAT I PLAN TO CHANGE SINCE I'VE WATCHED THIS VIDEO --> "I LIKE BIG BUTTS... AND I CAN NOT LIE"

How's that? Did I get an "A+"? LOL
