What Happened to TILT?

Tilt, a fundraising platform, akin to KickStarter, IndieGogo or GoFundME, was an online crowd-funding site aimed at helping users raise the funds they needed from a group or community for whatever projects they outlined. The company would only tilt, meaning collect and distribute the funds from users, if the targeted money was fully raised. It ended up tilting in other senses a bit too much, if you ask me.

So basically the cool Chad guy in ur college decides to start a business which was actually a pretty good idea, got a bunch of people to go along with all he was interested in was partying with this fast money they just woke up was a never ending college party for them....and all the business savvy and tech savvy geeks and Richards and dunns who were actually competent saw the writing on the wall and bailed before the party titanic sank.

This is also kinda why tech startups are so annoying and infuriating to a lot of people. This guy went full immature frat boy with his company and tons of money and drove it into the ground and his consequence is landing a cushy job at Airbnb. 90% of people would love to be able to do that. He pissed away almost 400 million dollars and nothing bad happened. I’m not wishing harm on the guy but like, he doesn’t even have to start over at a different company low in the totem pole and earn back trust?

Yup, plenty of mugs out there dying to give their money away to people who will just go and party it away. Ironic that a company that promoted this sort of activity also took millions of dollars of investment...and partied it away!

It's all a shell game. Companies hype their growth to get funding, CEO pay themselves high salary, then the company flops they already made millions. The investors look for 25x return because so many of these startups fail. It's a vicious cycle.
