I Sold My 4090 for a 7900 XTX - 2 Weeks Later
I swapped my RTX 4090 for AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XTX, but is the 7900 XTX actually a better graphics card than the 4090, why did I do it, and do I regret making the switch... Let's talk about it.

This is a sentiment I'm seeing echoed repeatedly: "I tried crappy AMD because I was tired of Nvidia and wow it's not crappy at all and I like it." The worst thing for Nvidia's GPU sales will be if people start seeing AMD cards as alternative products and not inferior products. Every time someone like you shares their experience I think it gives permission to people on the fence to try AMD.

i wish more people would talk about the software side because Adrenalin is honestly pretty awesome

Moved from a 3080 after 10 years of NVidia, to a 7900XTX 2 months ago, and really I'm happy of the upgrade ! Card is super stable, easy to OC, Adrenalin is way better than NVcrap, performance is very good, but only equivalent to the 3080 in heavy CP2077 RT
Only issue was an awfully high 50-100W power when idling/browsing vids, they fixed that with latest drivers to 10W idle/30W browsing

We need more people in the gaming community to give AMD a shot. It's a great solution for less money. Someone needs to keep Nvidia honest. Their pricing pratices the last few years have been ridiculous. I'm loving my 6800XT. Have zero regrets skipping Nvidia.

I switched to AMD too!! I had all, and I mean ALL the same issues you had with my 3070. I got the 6950xt and couldn't be happier.

I replaced my 3070 with a 7900 XTX and I absolutely love it. No issues right now, and the adrenaline software is great and doesn't make you log in.

Dude! The second monitor flickering has been a problem I've been dealing with since I got the 3080 Ti in September. I could never find a solution for it and just dealt with it. A lot of QOL things you've mentioned in this video are things I've noticed and assumed it was a Windows issue. Now I'm seriously thinking about swapping for AMD.

"I sold my RTX 4090 for a loss" How did you sell for a loss when China just banned the cards and the price skyrocketed??

Have had my heavily stock OCed 7900XTX for a while now, easily hits 3-3.2ghz, no issues so far, all games run on it maxed out at 80+ FPS in 4k. That easy Rage mode setting in thew control panel to bump it up some more give an additional 10-15FPS as well as all the extra features like chill, anti-lag, RSR, image sharpening, enhanced sync, adaptive sync, and virtual super resolution, which all help add more performance.

i just bought a 4090 strix for a really good price 1, 400 USD, and so far i had some issues at the start but found it it was my CPU throttling getting very hot got a new cooler and now everything is running with no issues,

I know this doesn't fix issue but best upgrade to my system was a stereo receiver and bookshelf speakers. It has a button to turn off speakers and just pick up headphones and you are good to go. I was able to get speakers for almost nothing used and stereo receiver was close to the same. Give it shot by buying used and give it a try.

Catalyst has been super solid this year, I downgraded from a 3080 ti to a 6700xt because I was having similar issues.

4090 owner here with a Ryzen 9 7900x, running two displays, a 1440p at 240hz and a 4K at 144hz and haven’t experienced any of the issues mentioned in this video.

The XTX is not just a great price option. Look at AMD's lineup. Nvidia intentionally delayed all releases after the 4090 to push gamers to buy it for 2-3k. The 3090's price has not dropped. Both give you lots of VRAM, but you drop down 500 dollars to the 4080 for what, 16GB OF VRAM??? The 1070s have 12GB of VRAM? It might outperform the XTX at raytracing, but 12GB of vram will be useless soon, some games already demand more NOW. They gave the 4060 TI 16GB but cut the clock speed in HALF for no reason? 6950, 7800, 7900 are simply all better products, products that will LAST and not cost you a fortune.

Another huge + for AMD; if you ever wanted to try/switch to Linux, AMD works out of the box with the Mesa drivers, as opposed to Nvidia's long-stance against open-source until recently (which was only a decision they made due to pressure of FOSS investors quickly backing out of funding them). The irony is that the excuse for their Linux drivers having always been buggy and broken was because they were busy focusing on their mainline, Windows; which AMD drivers now offer far greater stability for _both_ OS's. I wonder what Nvidia's excuses are now 🤔

There's a clear reason both Xbox and PlayStation ditched Nvidia for AMD (OG Xbox and PS3 both used Nvidia chipsets).

I bought the 7900xtx over 4080. Do not regret it at all. Agreed with summation completely. The AMD software is superior to use, overclocking is amazing, performance is amazing. Very happy.

meanwhile: in the whole video he never shows us his 7900XTX

The XTX is a great card. Plenty of people blindly just buy Nvidia thinking they *need* it for whatever imaginary reason their internet friends made up.

Finally techtubers are noticing. Some of these issues have been going on for a long time and has not been fixed. I fix computers for a living and i have encountered most of these issues with Nvidia. That flickering and black screen issue is the worse, its been going on for years, first encountered it during the RTX 20 series days. That's why most of the time I only recommend Radeon lately for productivity applications. Nvidia is fine for gaming. The XTX i think is now half the price of the RTX 4090 isn't it?
