"while you might think engines are cheap" - said nobody ever

Hey FYI the GE9X is only 10 cm bigger then the GE90-1XX. If you can tell the difference between 340 cm and 350 cm from across the airfield you have amazing eye sight. The folding wing tips will be a much better method to identify the 777X.

Did you guys know that the cabin of the B737 fits into this massive engine! Great video and can't wait for the DJ Show tonight.

The general of electric can't make a decent toaster but he sure knows how to make a great turbofan engine

That engine is simply ridiculous! Absolutely massive - thanks for the video!

At the size of that engine, it looks like the 747 would only need 2 engines!

Hello DJ, great update. GE has a youtube video of the engineering of this 9X engine for those who want to know detail but great update. Also the mini version of this GEXs engines are mounted on the 787 and the 747-8s.

Another test not mentioned is bird ingestion and fan blade separation. The goal is to keep damage contained within the engine. As experience has shown this is not always possible but the tech is improving.

As of July 2019 GE just announced that not only is the GE9X the largest jet engine but now it is the most powerful having been tested to 134, 300 pounds of thrust !!! Surpassing the GE90-115's 127, 500# of thrust !!! Now if they have the "little" problem of faster than expected wear of a part in the engine maybe they can get the 2 7779X's in the air !!!
