Perhaps after they get done producing and testing the largest engine ever built they can move on to the real challenge, and the real science...

Nice video. The 777X is going to be lit. I travel back and forth a lot from North America to Asia so hopefully that will fly those routes often.

The 777X will be (actually already is) a huge sales success. A larger but de-rated engine must give better fuel economy I guess...?

World's largest but not the world's most powerful. GE90-115B is still the most powerful with 115, 000 lbf of thrust!

The reason the 777X doesn't need more thrust is that the wings are that much longer giving it sailplane lift and therefore demanding less power to do the same work

1:40 "composite" doesn't give it more thrust or lift but rather less weight. What minimizes the need for more thrust (engine power) is Boeing's new Boundary Layer Control feature which has to do with how they design the airplane's skin and wings.
