Turkish company STM will produce 2 Logistics Support Ships for the Portuguese Navy.
STM, one of the Turkish defense industry companies, has achieved a new success. The company participated in the tender for the Logistic Support Vessel opened by the Portuguese Navy, and outperformed the world's leading military maritime companies in the tender. The Portuguese Navy decided that the engineering solution provided by STM was the most successful solution, and STM won the project.
Within the scope of the Auxiliary Oiler Replenisher and Logistics Ship Project, two ships will be designed and built in a private shipyard in Türkiye under the main contractorship of STM. This is the first time Türkiye has exported a military ship to an EU and NATO member country.

Who in it's perfect reality comments that Turkey was in NATO far before Portugal, when Portugal is one of the founding members, so since 1949, and Turkey only signed to join back in 1951 and got accepted by 1952 alongside with Greece. Doesn't people do a little research anymore before publishing untruthful information? jeez...

Türkiye is going to be the new China of Europe producing under European and Nato standards comparatively with low cost precise and even early deliveries due to its capacity, technology and skilled workmanship. I welcome the cooperation in between friendly nations/allies with added value ventures. Greetings to Portugal from Türkiye❤🎉

Right now Portugal is an appetizing target to sell ships as the navy has planned 17 new vessels (which includes the first world drone carrier) and two more submarines.

i didnt get the point of most of the portugese people in commentsi 2 ship is nothing for both portugese and turkey it is probably a starter of friendly relation, like how happend with ukraine, when the war started we gifted them drones and some weapons it was so useful that thir army made a song for drones and they bought even more! i think european way of looking around world and people, is thinking further you go east, the millitary tech is bad but it is not the how it works really.

The Portuguese's reservations about why they did not build the ships themselves are quite natural, but the Portuguese should not see buying ships from the Turks as a shame. Although the Turks came to the maritime scene late, they are a good seafaring nation. They fought alone with the Crusaders not only on land but also at sea. If Portugal tried to do everything itself with half the population of Istanbul, it would be very difficult for them. Portugal certainly has the capacity to build such a ship and can reach it. However, it is a pain in terms of the economy for Portugal to keep its navy active, let alone build these ships. Nevertheless, since Portugal's overseas interests still continue, it has to do this. Turkey, on the other hand, is coming to a position where it starts to play in the big leagues again with its young influence and potential. Doing business with the. It is a very good thing that the Spanish, Portuguese and Italians work together with the Turks in the Mediterranean. Because there are no more religious wars and there is no obstacle for the Turks and Portuguese to be sincere allies.

Portugal tem experiência na construção naval e tem óptimos estaleiros de elevada qualidade. Porquê ir dar lucro aos turcos e outros quando podia enriquecer a economia deste país.

Nice to see that Turkey is very advance in teck, but weirdly still low wage and less rights in the country, and Portugal once the maritime power high in rights for the people didnt advance as it dhould, less corruption a bit of more action..

I love Turkey and the Turkish people, but Portugal, with its shipyards in Viana do Castelo and Aveiro, is a sign of failure, it is disrespectful, Portugal doesn't make a single pin.

It's amazing that both countries are situated at the opposite extremity of the Mediterranean ocean.
