The retro futuristic electronics aesthetics are awesome to look at.

The real horror of this movie is that a scientific research station measures heat in Fahrenheit.

I absolutely loved the quiet opening sequence. The ship waking up in deep space.. and all the retro technology coming to life…. Felt like a strict sequel to Alien.

I am a 15 year old who went to go see this movie with a large group of friends of mine. Out of all of the friends, I was the only one to ever see any alien movies, with me being a very big fan of the movies. Not only did this movie make me super excited and happy (and scared) while watching, it made every single one of those friends feel the exact same way I did (especially in the last 15 minutes) even though they didn’t know anything about alien or the franchise, convincing them to watch all the other movies, I think that the future is bright for the alien franchise.

Andy was the first artificial person I actually felt comfortable with since Bishop.

My father took me to see Alien in '79 at age 11. It was my first R rated movie😳😬, which was great, untill he took my brother who was 6! My dad died a few months ago. RIP dad. 🙏 Thanks for inspiring a lifelong love of science fiction.

Instead of „Get away from her…” Andy should put one of his dad jokes there. That would fit so well with him and the storyline.

4:32 I feel if Big Chap returned alive for Rain and Andy, it would've been trying too hard to stroke the nostalgia of older fans

The “You have my sympathies” line actually works because that model android was programmed to say it.

No excuse for “Get away from her you bitch” tho

I personally think bringing back Big Chap as an actuala villain would've been pointless fan service, which the film already had too much of. It wouldn't have been cool at all to me, just feel like a "somehow Palpatine returned" thing.

I'm a 37 year old fan of this franchise. I got into these movies when I was 7 by sneaking out at night to watch my parent's VHS copy of it. It fucking terrified me. As a middle school teacher, one of my students told me they saw this opening night. They are 12 years old. I asked them what they thought and they responded, "The ending scared the crap out of me and I haven't been able to sleep since. I don't know why I thought I could see this in the theater." This is what it's all about folks. He loved it but it scared the ever loving shit out of him. If that isn't a win for this franchise then I don't know what it.

Rook talking over the video intercoms was by far the better effect, it would have been better for him if he only appeared in that medium.

The callbacks were a negative for me too, it smacked of studio interference to me so im surprised to hear that it was Fede's idea. There were plenty of great moments in the script, leaning on an old quote just undermines ones own movie as if they can't do their own thing.

That Ian Holm effect ripped me out of the film so hard I got whiplash 😂 At one point during an action scene, they randomly did a quick cutaway shot of him that caught me off guard and I audibly laughed out loud.

21:55 - To be fair, I don't think the chest burster scene was that off as the Chestburster was underdeveloped and kind of slithered out.

This film made me feel like I was walking through "Alien Isolation." Loved it!

Watching an ALIEN movie in a theater 🎭 will NEVER get old. Good or bad, I’m here for them ALL!

I would’ve LOVED “that’s what’s best for Rain” as Andy’s big line

This is the movie that, in my eyes, justifies Prometheus' existence. Romulus was able to reconcile the lore of Prometheus with the lore of the OG Alien movie. Perfectly.

I also recognized the brief nods to the video game, Alien: Isolation - the save station can be seen in one scene, and the way they had to pump a handle and then press a button to open a door, just like in the game. Not to mention the air vents.

I just hope that they don't drag Fede Alvarez away to make Alien vs Predator movies, because those types of films are going to be really hard to get right. And if his reputation is tarnished by a flop, they might not greenlight a sequel to Romulus with him at the helm.

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one bothered by the gestation period and the such rapid growth of the Xenomorph. Considering that they reveal that there are tons more xenos later.. they could've honestly had another check the ship out or something, give the gestation time to not feel so rushed.
